White Swan Inn, San Francisco

This hotel was so quaint, and beautifully decorated! My two girlfriends and I shared the Ashleigh Suite - one bedroom with a sitting room - perfect for a girls' shopping weekend! We had a queen bed in one room, and sofabed in the other. The suite has two fireplaces, two bathrooms, and two very large closets. We also had a rollaway (which was very uncomfortable!) They did tell us on checkout that they had more comfortable ones for the future (not sure why they didn't offer this on check in?!) Anyhow, the breakfast was wonderful, and the afternoon wine and snacks were great! (They had cheese and crackers, fruit, hot appetizers and sweets each afternoon) We loved chatting and playing cards in the library and parlor downstairs (both with very comfortable furniture and cozy fires going:) This was within walking distance to many theaters as well as great shopping in Union Square. The Powell Street and California Street cable car lines are both within a couple of blocks from the White Swan. We'll definitely be back!

The location was easy to find, but it is only street parking. On the weekends you don't have to worry about the meters though. It's an old building with lots of personality and the romantic vibe of the city encompasses the White Swan.

The White Swan Inn is beautiful, comfortable, and [for S.F.anyway] a relatively good value. My wife and I stayed there for our 25th anniversary and loved it.
