Kon Tiki Inn, Pismo Beach

This was our first stay at the Kon Tiki. There is a lot to love, as the other reviews say, but the really outstanding plus was the fact that we were given guest passes at the fabulous Pismo Beach Athletic Club for a day. The pass includes the use of all their facilities, classes, sauna, raquetball, etc and is right across the parking lot. Great beach with wonderfully soft sand. Great pool & hot tub, great hotel. A tad skimpy on the towels in our room (enough for one, but not two people), but the front desk cheerfully provided more. No complaints here!

We're never disappointed with Kon Tiki. Our primary purpose of staying at the beach is for R & R. The staff and facilities are extremely pleasant & accommodating. It is easily within walking distance of the downtown area and the pier. And if the weather doesn't permit walking, the rooms are spacious enough to enjoy staying inside. Keep up the good work, gang.....we'll be back! Room Tip: All rooms with full view of the ocean.

We were traveling with our two sons, ages 7 and 12, and simply decided to extend our vacation (we had been in Monterey) for a night in Pismo Beach. We drove up and got one of the last rooms available. The room was not big, but it was comfortable, very clean, and the staff could not have been more helpful. The pool was nice and heated, and the view of the ocean was outstanding. The ONLY downsides were the locals that crowded the breakfast area (not sure the hotel knew it), the lack of an affordable restaurant on-site (the next-door restaurant is a bit overpriced, but when traveling with children one doesn't want to pay $$$$ for them to eat, and the LONG walk down the stairs to the beach. That being written, we will return in a heartbeat to this hotel.

My husband and I have been coming to the Kon Tiki for years. We usually stay there in June for our anniversary and any other time we can get away. The Kon Tiki is wonderful. The rooms are always VERY clean. The staff is pleasant. The views are fantastic! We have tried other places and always come back to the Kon Tiki. Every other motel pales in comparison. The pool is always sparkling clean and you can walk right down to the beach from the stairway. There is a lovely grassy area right outside the rooms. It's just wonderfully peaceful. We just love it!

We stayed at Kon Tiki one year ago. There was nothing to dislike! We decided to go to Southern CA this year and made our plans 10 months ago. The closer the trip got....the more we were sick we had not included Pismo Beach and Kon Tiki in our plans. So...we will be driving from Anaheim to Pismo Beach as soon as we land and pickup our rental car. We can only stay 2 nights but the anticipation of the view from the room and relaxing in Pismo Beach is what we are counting the days down for. I will never plan a trip to CA without planning time at the Kon Tiki and Pismo Beach....it is absolutely beautiful!

We stayed there June 1-6 2010. The Hotel staff was very helpful & rooms were very clean. The Breakfast was the the same as the other hotels Waffels, pastries, fruit, coffee, juices but hey it's free. I went to the hotel office to ask directions to the James Dean Memorial & the staff was very helpful & also suggested several other things to see while in the area. Everyone at the hotel was friendly & very polite. The last couple of days of our stay they were repaving the parking lot. The owner of the Hotel was out in the parking lot making sure that the workers were leaving enough access for the guest to leave & enter back again without any trouble. A girls softball tournament was taking place in the area so the hotel had lots of young kids staying at the hotel. The staff was polite & answering questions for them as well. Even with all the children staying at that time. We were able to leave the sliding door open & listen to the waves at night. The beds are comfortable & rooms are large. The only thing that would have been nice was if the room had a microwave in it. To heat up food you had to go into the office & they would heat it up for you. We sat out on the balcony during the day & watched the waves while reading the paper. It is a very relaxing stay & I will stay at this hotel again the next time I'm in the area. I have suggested to many of my family & friends who were going into that area for both business & weekend getaways. They all said that they will stay again. Keep up the good work staff on the Kon Tiki Inn you all rock.

We live in Twain Harte Ca. where it has been snowing off and on. so it was a nice break to get away...not having reservations we decided to see if we could get a room at Kon Tiki Inn, never having stayed there before..not knowing what to expect.. when we opened the door..right away we could see and hear the sound of the waves..WOW! it was just perfect...the grounds were we very well groomed and the ocean off the stairs, the room was clean, and we just loved the opens feel to it..right away it felt so relaxing, we got settled in..opened a bottle of wine and sat outside the patio..and just took in the veiw..the next morning..since everything is within walking distance we walked to the cinnimon roll place and sat outside sharing a roll and coffee.Taking in the peacful start of the day and reflecting on what a great nights rest we had...this place was great all the way around.thank you. The service was geat..very friendly and the the price was great. We already decided that next time we will make reservations...as not to miss out on this place.

Been staying here for over 20 years. This is not a "15 star Taj Mahal" some might prefer. But, recent remodels are good, furnishings are good, rooms are clean, service is great, and views are spectacular. Close to tdown, sites and restaurants. Beach access is good, unless you are 70 yrs old and handicapped, like I am . My favorite rooms are second floor (they have elevators) leaving door cracked at night to get the sea air. I will not stay anywhere else when I am staying within 100 miles, or so. Highly recommend!

always friendly, always clean & always and ocean view!

Remodeled rooms are clean and large. Couldn't get better views. And, by far the best price in the area for a ocean view room (especially, their off season rates that have been under $100/nt. Do not have any dislikes about this place....except that there no openings to stay here during the Pismo car show... I have stayed here at least 10 times the last 5 years and have never encountered any problems or attitudes found in the neg. reviews on this site... people must of really pissed off the staff to get the kind of treatment they claim...
