Wellesley Inn Santa Clara, Santa Clara

We were having our bathroom & kitchen remodeled and this is the reason we had to stay at this hotel for 3.5 weeks. We ended up paying $1800 and if we could have afforded to pay more than $59 a night we would have. When we were going through the hallway; there was the weirdest smell (combination: mildew, cigarette smoke & a foul musty smell). We got into the room same smell and the room looked like we had gone back in time to the sixties. Somewhere on the web regarding the Wellsley it states a continnintal breakfast, well don't expect that because they no longer offer this service. For the most part we had no choice but to live in this hotel for 3.5 weeks it wasn't the most comfortable but we had a place to lay our heads. At the end of our stay we were visited by Mickey Mouse. He's a cute little guy and when I called the front desk and told them about him, the front desk clerk said he would send housekeeping. No one came of course and I can't imagine the ladies wanting to get rid of the little guy they would be more scared of him than me. Service was not the greatest, the reservationist was a sweetheart but the front desk personnel left a lot to be desired. But honestly if you can afford better, steer clear of the Wellsley.

Cons - We booked a room online, using yahoo travel. First of all, We booked the most expensive room, which was supposed to include a king soze bed and a roll out bed (for our toddler). It only had the kingsize bed, no sofa. Second, When my husband tried toopen the door, he realized it was locked from the inside. My husband thought they double booked the room by mistake, but the man who was inside told him that he was actually the manager, and that he just went in to use the bathromm! Third, from the pictures on the website it looks like a large fairly modern hotel. In reality, it looks more like a run down appartment complex that smells of cigaretes. We've decided to cancel the reservation. The manager canceled it immediateley, no hassle about that at least. which brings me to the pro - curteous service. The way they gandeled this unfortunate situation is the only reason I gave it 2 stars and not one.

i loved the treatment of the employee's and their generosity. it is a great place to stay with family and friends.Employee's always do their best to help out and to clean your room and make you comfortable
