Holiday Weekend
By Alex E, 12/30/09
We stayed 2 nights during the Christmas Holiday Weekend with 2 adults and 1 six year old child. We rode the BART from SFO. There was abundant shopping and dining nearby in Chinatown and North Beach. We even walked to Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square! We try to use public transport or walk when vacationing here. The hotel was recently remodeled. Our room had a great view of Coit Tower and the bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out. The cleaning staff kept everything neat and clean. We will definitely stay here on our next weekend in San Francisco!

Nice Hotel/ Nice stay
By Jeff-Ray, 09/22/09
We stayed here for one night. It was a last minute trip and wanted to stay in a nice hotel. For the money we paid it was very nice. The room was small but it was still very nice. The Beds were very comfortable and the huge computer desk was awesome. The AC system was also very easy to use and very comfortable. The down side of our stay was: First, the bathrooms are VERY small. Clean, modern looking.. but still very small. Their was not enough towels. I was able to call maid service and they brought some quickly. Second, not many options on the television for entertainment unless you pay for them. Third, the internet (WiFi) was slow and I had problems connecting to it a few times. Lastly, the front desk staff and bell staff were NOT friendly. Kinda like the rest of the city... not extremely friendly just not overly rude. All and all it was a nice hotel to visit and I would stay there again in the future. We mad a mistake and went to the Hilton in Union Square first, the staff were a lot friendlier ADVICE FOR PARKING: Parking at the hotel is ridiculously expensive. Swallow some pride, walk a little, their is a parking garage one block over that only charges $24 for 24 hours!!!!

Not satisfied

The restaurant staff was not friendly. I think this hotel is good for business trip but is not for family vacation . The room was very small and it was very noisy you can hear every thing on the stress .

Nice Surprise
By K. Leger, 10/29/08
I realy enjoyed this hotel. It was in great shape, my room was nice, clean and modern. The staff was very friendly with each interaction. I thought the price was very reasonable. The hotel is next to Chinatown and there are several great places to eat. Also, the fitness center was top notch. I will definately stay here again and recommend it to co-workers. Tip: request the side of the hotel that faces the bay when you make your reservation, the view is far nicer than the view on the opposite side of the hotel.

Horrible Hotel Experience.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/08
The hotel started the bad day by not having our room ready at check in time, a non-smoking King bedroom, so attempted to take a smoking king bedroom. They said it would not smell in the room but the offensive odor was too much to handle. They still had no non-smoking room ready so we had to get ready in the smoking room. When we were done we packed up and went out for the day, they assured us that our room situation would be handled when we returned around 7pm. Upon our return they did issue us a new room, non-smoking king, just as we had reserved a few weeks earlier. We had no time to go into the new room but gave the bellman our bags and told him our new room number. We go out to dinner and a blues club and return around 2am. We go directly to the room where we notice a do not disturb sign on the door. 'That's odd' So we place the key card in the door and it unlocks, we open the door but it's latched from the inside......someone else was in the room!!!! We go back downstairs and deal with the front desk for about 30 minutes who apparently can't find our bags either. I asked to see the luggage room and luckily our bags were there untagged and never taken to the room. Luckily they had an upgraded room which they did not charge us extra for and paid for our valet parking but that did not make up for the 2 inconveniences for the day. Let's not forget this was at 2am!!!! All in all I'll never stay at this hotel again and this has left a foul odor in our noses about all Hilton hotels.

very nice hotel but
By Franklin, 01/14/08
the doors! and walls! The room door is too light, and sounds carry throughout the long hallways! Also, the walls are pretty thin. I can hear the next rooms occupants talk and bathroom flushings.

No amenities - staff indifferent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/06
I have stayed at several high end hotels in San Francisco over the last ten years. This time the only room to be found was at the Hilton Financial District. I asked to rent a small refrigerator and was told the cost was $25 a day. Most times they are complementary or the most I have paid is $30 a stay. Those the desk space was wonderful, there was no light on the desk. I had to carry the floor lamp accross the room. Every staff person I encountered did what they had to do and no extras. No smiles, no question if assisstance with bags was needed, even ignored me until I spoke up. A room service tray was outside my door from 6:45 AM to after 7:30 PM. Even Taxis did not find in nessary to line up for customers outside. Half the time I had to walk to find one or just walk the entire 15 blocks to my office building.

car broken into in the valet garage and no one is responsible......
By JW, 08/25/06
Long story short. Valet unloaded everything from the car with the exception of a Black camera bag that was sitting in the back of the car along with the rest of my stuff. I said "everything goes up to the room". I'm a photographer and had a lot of gear. The next morning at 6am i get a call stating that i'm needed in the garage as there had "been an incident". My window was smashed and all the contents of the car were gone. The CD's i can llive without but the Leica M6 that I later realize was stolen (and then confirmed by security via video tape of the whole thing) is not so easy to handle. At the time of the break in the hotel had notified us that they contract out the valet parking to ACE parking and that any claim would need to be taken up with them. Well they have a caviot on the valet ticket stating that they are not responsible for any loss or damages to the car while it is their possesion even though the day of the break in the manager for ace at that location assured me that the contents of the car would be replaced. Now, this garage has video and psyical security but no one was around when the theft took place.

Lacking, but only one other Hilton near downtown
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/06
Couple of notes from a Diamond HHonors member: No coffee makers in room. Executive lounge is tiny and not well equipped. Rooms are decent with nice views. Prices fluctuate, so book in advance. Newer than the Union Square Hilton, but Union Square has nicer exec lounge and exec floor rooms there are nicer with patios. I have stayed at both this and the Union Square Hilton more than 20 days each this year - both are OK, but not great. If you have to stay at a Hilton, either is adequate, but if you can pick another hotel in town you're sure to get a better room and better service elsewhere.
