Highland Gardens Hotel, Hollywood

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Other than that, it was by far the worse hotel I have every stayed in. The hotel is VERY old and DIRTY!!! I was scared to stay there, howerver a family member made the reservation and we were only there to sleep overnight for approximately 8 hours. They suck you in by a gorgeous lobby, however when you enter the hallway and rooms, BEWARE! OLD, TIRED, DIRTY, GROSS!!!!

This was by far the worst "hotel" we have ever stayed in. It was dirty and everything was old. They lock the doors at around 11 p.m. The room was not worth what we paid and will never go back. Also there were holes in the ceiling in the kitchen and the smoke detectors are on light switches. Save yourself the money, stay somewhere else.

I love this place i wish i never had to leave but unfortinatly i did the servis is awsome and the rooms are cheap i hope i can come back soon.

The only great thing about this hotel was the location, 2 blocks from the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd, and only minutes from Universal and Warner Brothers. The hotel was another story. The whole place was old and dated, the Continental breakfast was a joke and the pool was dirty. The rug in our room was filthy and stained. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel was good strictly for the location.

it's almost as if the staff knows what you want or need before you have a chance to ask. marie,jamie,paul and pete are the best. as far as the location,you can't surpass it.clubs with live music,gourmet restaurants and some of the finest cothing and gift shops in the city,and they are all within walking distance along hollywood blvd. i was there for three weeks in may and june, and have reservations for five weeks in september and october. i'm looking foreword to another fantastic stay with four incredible people that i have named above.

My sister and I (both 50+) needed a clean, safe and affordable hotel in order to attend a special event on Hollywood Blvd. This hotel met all our needs and exceeded our expectations. We had a ground floor room with a kitchenette and a small patio at the edge of a garden in bloom; the scent was wonderful! The staff was friendly, helpful, and had great stories about some of the stars, whose photos adorn the lobby walls. I would love to stay there again!

Not advisable for families, but for the youthful (at heart). Stayed there a full week and had a blast. The pool area is breathtaking, the decks are huge! The other tennants (also and apartment building) are so colorful, there is plenty to see with just them lounging around. Yeah, our room did have a "gas" funk and there was leftover food in the kitchen from the guests before. Also, if you want to feel more safe, nudge something up to the sliding glass door as they don't lock. But hey, all of that makes it so charming. And you can't beat the price. If you want class, stay at the Standard, if you like Hollywood adventure, I highly recommend this place!

Although the hotel is old, is really isn't so bad. It is clean, the price is right and the rooms are very large. Underground, secure parking for guests is an added bonus.

This is where Janice Joplin died and where the Rat Pack used to hang out. The historical significance of this hotel strongly outweighs the not so perfectly clean rooms. It is a couple blocks from Hollywood Blvd and down the hill from the oldest building in Hollywood which is also a great CalAsian restaurant. Overall, very nice people and 24 hour coffee.

This is where the great Janis Joplin died. What else can you expect but a nightmare. Her room was alread booked. I was hoping to see her ghost. Hopefully, they will never tear down this landmark. Just fix it up and advertise Janis.
