Home Away From Home!
By ,
We go to Ft. Bragg several times a year and would never stay anywhere else! The Harbor Lite has fabulous staff whom we now consider our friends, is very clean, is always making nice improvements to the property. We feel so welcomed there and if you're from the HOT central valley of California there is nothing as wonderful as going over the hills to the cool ocean in Ft. Bragg. Visit the Harbor Lite anytime and often...but do yourself a favor and visit on a July 4th celebration weekend and see the balconies of folks who return every year. Balconies are decorated with flags, lights, and all sorts of patriotic regalia! It is a site to see as you come into town from the south. Be sure to check with the hotel for the date of the fireworks, salmon BBQ, and July 4th festivities...they do not occur on July 4th but on the Saturday closest to July 4 as a rule. What a change of pace the Harbor Lite is compared to stuffy hotels...this is a home away from home, well managed, and it will become a habit for you too!

Like An Old Friend
By ,
I've stayed at Harbor Lite at least ten times over the past 30 years, and am returning this fall. I've loved it every time; it's well worth traveling the 600 miles from L.A.! It makes a great base for visiting the Mendo coast, and points northward, or for just chilling out. The rooms aren't fancy, but they're clean, comfortable, and economical for a tourist area. The harbor view is fantastic. I like to sit on the balcony at daybreak, wrapped in a blanket as the fishing boats go out. I've never had any issues with the staff, and always find them friendly, especially when they learn I'm a return customer. The facility probably isn't as well-suited for families as it is to individuals or couples. If there's a downside, it's the rattle of cars crossing the Hiway 1 bridge at night, but even that diminishes as the night goes on. If you want luxury with all it's fancy amenities, stay down the coast for double or triple the rate! Otherwise, Harbor Lite Lodge is a great bargain for the budget conciousl

We will be back for sure!!!
By ,
The room had a great view of the harbor; we watched the boats come and go, and could walk down via the stairs Harbor Lite provided. No noise, good bed, roomy, great balcony and price was right. Great tub!! We will go back to Fort Bragg and we will stay at Harbor Lite. I don't think we really have a complaint. And the staff, always friendly and they really know where to recommend a person can get great food. Thanks Harbor Lite for a very nice vacation.

Beautiful View
By ,
Service was good. The best part was the view, of course, of Noyo Harbor and the bridge. Waffles were really good.Smokers did use the decks and drop ashes on people walking by underneath. Parking lot was small for the number of cars that needed to park there. The car windshield cleaning suppliew were a plus. Lighting in the morror/sink area was poor. Great cleaning service from the maids.

Not bad, but I think I'll keep looking
By ,
I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night, in 2 different rooms: King on the ground floor, then 2 queens directly above the first room. Liked: Cleanliness, spacious room (with the king bed), everything worked, parking was very easy. Reasonable quiet. Disliked: 1) No wi-fi. 2) No privacy in the two rooms I had (which was why I'd moved--not much better on the second floor) because the sliding glass doors look out onto walkways, which wasn't obvious at first. I'd asked for a room away from the street, but both rooms seemed like caves. It was about $98 per night, not as bad as some, but with no wireless internet and little/no natural light in the room, I found myself at Starbucks a lot. I didn't try the breakfast, because it seemed too intimate and I felt bad for the lady doing the cooking. Clean, pretty quiet, easy parking and a decent room, but I'm pretty sure I can do better for the price.

Great front desk people!
By ,
The employees there were helpful in person and while making reservations by phone weeks earlier. They were the best! The view of the harbor was okay but while we visited in early July there were hundreds of gnats and other flying insects near the balconies which detracted a bit from the experience. The lack of pool was not a problem as we were in town to ride the Skunk Train (fantastic!!!) and it was only in the low to mid 60's for the high anyway. A lack of children contributed to the peaceful feel of the property. Breakfast was fine although some may want to go elsewhere for a full breakfast. We found it convenient. We will go back if the price remains a good value. My wife and I had a pleasant visit and would like to return again. Did I mention the helpful staff?

Won't stay anywhere else
By ,
We go to Ft. Bragg 4 or 5 times a year - we won't stay anywhere else. We love always request the room with a fireplace. The place is peaceful, comfortable, very few kids(sorry but I go there to relax), has a great view of the Noyo Harbor. Staff is friendly and helpful. My only complaint -sometimes we can't get a reservation because it so popular. But instead of booking elsewhere, we reschedule our trip.

Very over rated.....
Ok, Well I booked a night here just off the reviews I read here on line. That was a mistake so I wanted to come back here and leave some feedback. The hotel is overpriced, and "views" aren't anything worth paying extra for. The breakfast wasnt really good (cereal and waffles), we went elsewhere afterwards to eat. There is no spa or pool available onsite for kids. I can see this being ok for senior citizens, as there really were no kids around and the beds were comfortable. In my opinion, staying at a chain motel for 20 bucks less a night is a better deal than this.
