The buildings sweep low across historic Fountaingrove Ranch, affording a view of the landmark Round Barn above them. Hotel amenities include Equus, a premium steakhouse with a variety of fish and Italian dishes. Pegasus Lounge has light fare, weekend live music, and a wide selection of wines. The inn's signature horses are represented throughout the property in exquisite sculptures, hand-carved redwood murals, and on colorful canvases in every room, as well as in the Equus Restaurant. Fountaingrove Inn - Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/08
My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. Since I booked through Priceline I understand we could not choose the room / bed. So once the reservation was made, I called to see what we could expect. The lady who answered (in the evening) said I'd have to call Priceline for that info. ??? Ooookayyy. I said, "You can't even look up my reservation to tell me what kind of bed I'll get?" and she said, "well, I'll try - give me the reservation number." I did, and she had the info right there. I wanted to share a martini upon arriving, with a new bottle of our favorite gin. So I asked the same lady if we could have a bucket of ice, and two martini glasses in the room when we arrived. Seems like a small thing - but she said, "well, there are glasses in the room". I knew that, but "could we get martini glasses, maybe from the bar, put in the room?" Her reply? "You can certainly go to the bar and get martini glasses once you check in, and there's ice in the ice machine in the hall." How romantic. I already had the warm fuzzies. The room turned out to be nice. No complaints other than the road noise. It's right by a busy intersection. The staff was friendly too. Unfortunately, they can't seem to handle small requests. This morning, we left at 9:30 to have breakfast and spend the day sightseeing. I stopped by the front desk and asked if our room could ready by 3:00 PM since we had to change and get ready for our special anniversary dinner. "No problem" was the response, although he didn't take my room number. So - I said, "that's room ###", "ah okay, got it". Then we even discussed today's plans and he assured me it would be taken care of. We arrived at 3:05. Guess what? Right - the housekeepers were still working on it. Now they saw us and they started rushing like crazy to get it done. I went to the front desk, while my wife sat quietly on the stairs with our things from the day. I saw the attendant and told him my room was not done. He said, "room ###?" and I said "yes". He said, "I know you spoke with Jorge this morning, and I called up there a little while ago, I'm sorry 'bout that." Then nothing. Another shrug and "I'm sorry" from the guy, but I just stood there thinking he'd say "let me fix that for you, here's a free drink from the bar, or have breakfast on us" - but nothing but shrugs. I was willing to overlook the lady who doesn't understand what it means to do a tiny thoughtful thing like have ice and glasses waiting. I was willing to overlook the fact that they were out of coffee in the lobby this morning too. But c'mon - I specifically went to the trouble to request my room be clean within the next FIVE hours and they couldn't get that done? Then - nothing but shrugs? Sorry, I can't recommend this place for anything other than maybe a business trip. Don't expect anything extra in the form of service.

Excellent & unusual hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/07
The hotel is beautiful - stone and wood; vaulted ceilings. The rooms are large and have a nice layout. The new addition has great mini-suites for business travelers. The restaurant has won awards and is local favorite. The scotch and wine selection is extensive. The hotel is locally owned. It is centrally located at the north end of town and our favorite for business travel. I'd stay else where for weekend getaway. The service is mediocre (its hard to find a serviceful staff in an affluent suburb). They could not help me with the internet connection and I had to call my own tech support. It is good value especially the mini-suites - a right mix of comfort, beauty, space and price.

Customer Service is Lacking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/07
I am clearly disappointed in the quality of customer service this hotel provides. I will no longer book rooms for my company with them. One is safer going to the Hilton just up the hill.

Amenities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/05
I have never seen a microwave oven in my room as listed in the amenities section. Not sure if that must be request upon check-in, but I've stayed there for business for several months and it wasn't in any of the rooms. Important point for those who must have one in room.

The Fountaingrove
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/04
I travel a lot on business and the Fountaingrove is my favorite hotel on earth. The rooms are designed for functionality, things are set up in a way that is at once attractive and efficient. The lobbies are beautiful. There are awesome cookies in a basket in the evening and locally grown apples all day -- always free. You can choose between several different newspapers delivered to your door. The free breakfast is incredible: Usual continentel fair but with simple, excellent additions - the bowl of multicolored raisens and the blend of oatmeal with nuts, fresh fruit, first rate coffee and excellent pastries. I love this place. The bar is a little too quiet and calm for my preference and the restaurant is excellent if a bit pricey.
