Been here three times
By ,
We've been here three times and the location is nearly perfect except for the parking as previously mentioned. On the weekends we have had issues with the noise and earplugs wouldn't be a bad idea. We stay in the two room suite as they are the only ones with "FULL OCEAN" view. Right across the street from Pacific Terrace which is three times more $$. If you just want to be on or close to the beach and can handle the Hotel staff working out of a 10x10 office you won't mind this place.

Nice but not great!
By ,
Our stay was very nice however we did have a few problems on our 4 night stay. The first thing my wife and I noticed in room 210 was the window in the bathroom that just so happens to overlook the shower was clear with no way to block the view!... When my wife first told the person in the office she said that is they way it always is. So when I got back to the room I went down to the office and explained that this is not right. We came back to the room and they had duct taped some thick brown paper over it so no one could see in. There is no A/C but then again you are on the beach and really no need for it however it was 91 one of the days we visited and the heater in my room was putting off heat. I asked to have it fixed at the same time as the window. After a hard day of wedding stuff I came back too my room to find it VERY hot. The next day I asked again and was told the maint. man had gone home for the day! Which of course I told them too bad fix it or I was leaving with my money. The front desk girl came up to the room 10 minutes later and turned out the pilot light! Really who needs a heater in San Diego? Of course like in the other reviews parking is an issue but that is what you get in this area. The web site is a little miss leading... there are only TWO rooms with a beach view. I was able to pick up a wireless internet from somewhere but it was a low signal. I paid $85 a night and when I look at their website now it says 146 a night so not a bad price. There are nicer places in the area and uglier places too. Good luck in your future stays.

Deffinatly a \"Diamond\"!
This little, you could almost call it a boutique-style hotel, was very charming! Ocean Front, newly renovated rooms, most of the rooms are ocean view or partial. I stayed here for my wife and I's aniversary & she fell in love with the place! We will be comming back for sure.

Great spot, good price
By ,
Reviews are pretty much bang on. Rooms are re-done, clean and spacious. It is definitely a little loud, especially during the summer on the weekend. Lots of activity happening along the beach. And, as reported, the office is not open all night and parking is tight. Other than that, the location is fantastic. I can't imagine you can beat the price for the location and clean room. Bring earplugs and have fun.

I think I totally lucked out!
By ,
I just got back from a long weekend family reunion in San Diego; I had no reservations anywhere, but Diamond Head was across the street from the reunion "base of operations," that being the pricey Pacific Terrace; I arrived in SD, said hi to family, walked across the street, and got a great room, clean, comfy, kitchenette, etc 3 minutes later for 99 a nite, including that rate for friday and sat nite! no ocean view from my room, but walk out the door, and there it is! I thought Diamond Head was great, the people nice, and feel it was a good deal, especially since I just walked in without a reservation and could have had to pay a huge premium....

I'm Lovin' It...
By ,
Everything you could possibly need is right here.... not to mention the beach! The rooms are clean; the beds are comfortable to sleep in; the staff is friendly and very helpful too! I love it when I stay here, but the prices could be a little less expensive considering the beach area people....

Worth every cent!
This hotel was feet away from the boardwalk and the ocean. The size of the room was larger then many of the resorts in the area for a lot less! Very conveinent area for night life and transit to the rest of the city! Excellent!

Great Place for the money!
By ,
I booked this hotel straight from it's own website and received a great price of $59 on the weekdays and $79 on weekend in February. I have to admit I was scared because I've stayed in a lot worse for a lot more $ without being on the ocean. Upon arrival my room was great and I was very happy with my stay! All the rooms are decorated as pictured and the front desk guys and the maids were very accomodating. The room was very clean and a few steps away from the ocean. The hotel was centrally located near the zoo and seaworld. I'd come back if I could! The only problems I saw were: I didn't see an Air Conditioner in my room (although I didn't need in in Feb., beware of the abbreviated continental breakfast, and the Parking (esspecially on weekends)although the desk guy said we were welcome to park at their other hotel a couple of blocks away.
