Overpriced Dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
It's a great location, but the rooms are dirty and in need of renovation. Flies everywhere, things don't work, staff unknowledgeable. If it were $100 or so per night, it would be reasonable, but way overpriced for things to be in terrible condition and have unconcerned management.

pretty, exotic
By Bden, 1/8/10
Enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean. The comforter was heavy! and stained, so we pulled it off the bed.Pretty good view. We could see the ocean from a couple of blocks away, over the roof tops. It is a short block to the ocean beach and right on Mission Bay. Bus stop is right outside the gate. The grounds were beautiful. Lobby is beautiful. Not one pot or pan in our studio kitchen. We were going to heat hotdogs up. Had to use the microwave. Not much point in having a stove or range if there is nothing to cook in. Overall very comfortable and pretty. The resturant was too expensive and snoddy. $40 for Sunday brunch. The menu selection wasn't very appealing, too many fruity, herb-y sauces on entrees. We didn't eat there.

Okay, I guess
By DrYoung, 6/23/09
While the hotel is beautiful and full of lush tropical atmosphere, the staff is average as well as the rooms. Whether you self or valet park, there is a fee of $15 or $20 a day. The price is a bit high for a slightly smaller than average size hotel room, there are no safes or fridges to store anything, little storage space for long trips. Great food at the restaurant and the hotel is not located on a beach front, it's a bay front. The view is great from the bay, the water is merky, and a bit too dark to go in. Great for tanning and there is a great Boat ride you can take from Catamaran to Bahia Resort for a night event. The hotel is centrally located on the Bay side and close to party areas, restaurants and bars.

Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/05
We were there in February 2004 and loved it. The grounds are beautiful and it is within walking distance to the boardwalk. We are staying here again in April 2005 - we can't wait! (March 2005)

*Beware\" - Crawling with Bed Bugs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/10
I would NEVER recommend the Catamaran Resort and Spa to anyone: 1. The Resort is not Baby/handicap friendly. The parking is far from the rooms and the parking garage only has stairs which resulted in many trips carrying our stroller/baby up and down. 2. We realized our room on the 12th floor was crawling with bed bugs when we were awoken our first night itching and scratching. Although most of them smaller in size we killed half a dozen the size of coffee beans. The attendant on duty did let us change rooms, but moving all of our belongings in the middle of the night was aggravating. I also considered the move a downgrade as the room was similar in amenities but the view went from an ocean view to one of the parking garage. We gave the new room on the 9th floor a good once over before moving in and although clean of bed bugs, our peace of mind was shot and was tough getting any rest that night. 3. Although we hadn't noticed the first night after moving rooms because of our tiredness, the second night we realized our heater was not working which resulted in our baby getting sick and not being able to sleep. What should have been a relaxing vacation turned into a nightmare! 4. We decided to stay at the Catamaran Resort and Spa and spend a little more money thinking the guests would be more responsible, and obviously this is not under the control of the hotel but there was considerable noise and partying going on in the hotel. One morning as we were going for an early morning walk on the beach we were taken aback by the smell in the elevator filled with throw up from too much partying the night before. 5. After all this management did nothing and only said we should have said something earlier when we complained at check out. We did say something but they obviously didn't care since we had paid through hotels.com and already received their money. 6. There were some nice things about the resort: the location, the overall appearance of the hotel, right across the street from the ocean, but we felt the negatives heavily outweighed the positives.

Nothing special
By David, 12/26/05
With the advertisements, I expected this to be a really nice place. Upon arrival I found out I had to pay $9.00 a day to park at the hotel. The grounds are very nice. The room looked and felt old. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. Also, there were a lot of empty rooms, but I still ended up on the other side of the hotel not close to any of the amenities. I must say the staff was very pleasant.

Never Going Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/11
The service here is just the pits; they don't care. Everything the front desk told us was wrong, from early check in to dogs being allowed outdoors at the restaurant. The restaurant is the worst. It took us literally fifteen minutes to get chips and salsa (after we asked), the restaurant was empty, and w/in two minutes of getting our chips, our salads came WITH our entrees--not even the table had room for all that, I don't know what kinds of idiots even think that's okay. Woman was rude to us at the bird exhibit. And you can hear every single thing from your room, your most expensive room (which we had) from doors opening and closing above us to the carts being moved in the walk-ways by the staff to the screaming parrot when we were trying to take a nap. I feel like nobody has done any quality check here in a very long time. Oh, by the way, if you have luggage, good luck trying to get it from the parking lot to your room: it's all stairs, no ramp, no elevator and nobody offered to help us.

Perfect honeymoon spot
By Toni, 9/6/06
We stayed here in October 2004 for our honeymoon, and the facility was superb! It was close to Sea World, and walking distance to a couple restaurants and the beach. Tons of little shops along the beach as well. The only complaint I can remember was we specifically asked for a kitchen room, and they said it would be no problem. When we got there, they only had a kitchen room available half the time we were there, and had to stay in a different room the rest of the time. They still made up for it and treated us very well.
