Loved it!
By W, 01/20/10
We stayed in the newer section in September of 2009. It was our first vacation in years and we traveled all over the San Francisco area. The night in Sausalito my husband and I decided right then that we would come back and stay here again. On a five night trip we stayed at a different hotel each night and the Casa Madrona was the best by far. Cannot wait to go back. I recommend it to everyone I know!

Great stay, beautiful room
By PedroPat, 09/23/09
We stayed in the new section of the Casa Madrona and enjoyed it very much. The rooom was big, clean and the bathroom was the size of our kitchen at home. (HUGE) The view, well what else is there to say. We had a delightful dinner at the resturant right below the hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and we look forward to going back for another stay.

Bad Front Desk Help
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/09
When I arrived there on Valentines a lady named Nan at the front desk and she was very rude didn't look at me and my wife and acted like we were bothering her. I called down later to get a phone number and she sounded like I was bothering her once again. I do not understand why you would have someone who does not care about the guests. I will warn everyone about her so they are aware. I have many friends that are coming to stay with you.

casa mandrona smells!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/08
We booked online for a last romantic night on our way home from Napa. Casa Mondrona is split into two sections. The old and the new. We booked the old rooms with the view of the bay.. The price online for the the old and new room on the bay are the same. The room we were given smelled like urine, yes pee. It looked nothing like the picture online. We asked to change rooms and an attic room with no a/c no screens on the window was offered. We asked to change to the modern section. Here is where it gets sleazy!!!. We were told that the same room in the modern section was going to be $200 more. I have since looked online and have found no room that is $480 on a weekday. We eventually got a room on the courtyard in the new section. It was clean. But had no view. We looked at the" Inn above the tide" which looked clean and lovely. If you have no choice but to stay at 'casa mondrona" my advise is to stay in the new section and print out your online reservation.

Excellent Weekend in Sausalito
By justins, 04/07/08
My wife and I stayed at Casa Madrona for the weekend and had a really great time. The concierge Brian does an A+ job and really made our stay enjoyable. The valet parking guys were really friendly and fun to talk to. The location of the Hotel is the best in town. The room service from their restaurant Poggio was perfect (highly recommend the cheese plate). We would love to stay here again. When make deciding to book this hotel, it is important to remember that part of the hotel is a historic building. Compared to the AAA rating, this hotel was a great value for us. Justin

Major Disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/08
The website shows a beautiful hotel - when we checked into the room (#205), the place smelled horrible, the furniture was old, the lamp was falling apart - do i need to say more!! Not happy at all! Thank goodness we didn't have to pay for this place out of our own pockets, otherwise, I would have gotten a better room at motel 6! I do have to say that the staff is awesome! I would not recommend this place to anyone who is expecting a 5 star hotel! Does not look anything as pictured on the website.

Not worth the money!
By hopeg, 12/18/07
Tiny room, heater and uncomfortable bed kept us awake most of the night. Carpets were stained, bathtub drain plug chipping chrome and no slippers to walk to your spa treatment. The room cost nearly $300 and every little amenity in the room cost from water to bath salts. There also is no parking for the hotel, it cost $24/day for the valet parking. We will never go back there!

Wonderful Night
By Jzilla, 11/28/07
The Service at the hotel was very nice. everyone was polite and catering to our needs. I had the concierge, Nancy, help set the mood for the room that evening. And she did a execellent job. my fiance absolutely loved it. roses and candles were spread out across the room and the room she recommended that had a nice tub and view was great and relaxing. Definitely a place to stay for a relaxing weekend. The Spa was also very nice and had a nice ambience. And the location was very convenient to all the touristy shops as well as a great view of the San Francisco Skyline. Overall a very nice place where I would definitely stay again.

Horrible - musty, ants, trashed our car
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/07
Do not stay here. We had been promised a 2-bedroom cottage with 2 queen size beds and walked into a very musty smelling room (so bad it woke me up) with one queen bed and 2 singles. The “two” bedrooms did not have doors and were separated by a glass window that you could see through. Our experience went downhill from here. The next morning we were moved to two single bay view rooms. Our luggage was supposed to be delivered for us but nearly 7 hours later it still hadn’t arrived. It finally was delivered but we had to hunt for a couple coats that had disappeared on their journey from room to room. On the surface the new rooms looked great but they were infested with ants (had to call and complain 3 different days), the interior door and patio doors did not fully close (had at least an 1/8 to ¼ inch gap), the heat did not work in one room and the other room was either exremely hot or cold, and even simple mundane things such as replacing coffee and creamers were not completed. Our bill also included incorrect room rates and double charges for valet parking. Another warning…do not use the valet service. We had a rental vehicle with flawless cream leather interior. When we got the vehicle back we were shocked to see tire marks on the back of the headrest (yes, tire marks…from a bellhop cart perhaps?), numerous black grease smudges and a black imprint of the letters ok on the seats. The valets are very unprofessional and would shout obscenities at each other and at cars as they drove past. We complained and my husband overheard one of the gentleman who parks cars state, “What do they care, it is a rental.” Eventually we were promised by Kevin (from the valet service) that he would take the car and have a $200 detailing on it to clean up the mess. What a shock (note sarcasm) that when we picked the car up this had not been done. In all fairness I should note that this hotel has a great location, great views and an exceptional front desk staff. Unfortunately we would not have had to deal with the front desk staff had the hotel itself not been such a disappointment.

Case of "Buyer BEWARE" !!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/07
From the moment we parked our car in front of the hotel for a valet parking (they charge $20 per day for parking even though you are a guest of the hotel), we already had a bad experience (the staff are unprofessional - I didnt want to leave my car with them at all!). Then the bell boy did not take good care of my bagage (feels like service from a bad cheap motel- he just dumped it all in the cart with out care). Then the registration reception is anything but friendly and curtious. We were given the room in the old Victorian section of the hotel - but before you get there you have to take this small elevator (feels claustrophobic) and to more stairs. The bell boy has the nerve to ask us to help him carry our stuff to the room (when it is his job to do so). We were given room 205 (beautiful view can't say much about the room - its pretty old and it smells in there) only to be called few minutes later telling us they needed to move us because it was reserved to someone else (Incompetent staff). We were moved to room 206 - I was about to cry when I walked in there. For 200+ a night the room is "ghetto" - its poorly designed Asian theme room with a futon for a bed (literally - looks like someones studio apartment) the TV is on top of a cheap night stand and the wall is mirrored. We went there for our anniversary because it looks romantic only to be very disappointed and heartbroken. We asked the front desk to give us a different room, only to be told thats the best they can do for us. It was disheartening. I Never been treated with such disrespect and uncaring attitude. After two hours of being in that god for saken hotel, we decided to leave and drove to Callistoga for our anniversary instead and hope to save whats left of supposedly romantic weekend. But Casa Madrona had left us with bitter taste in our mouths.
