Horrible
By nick, 02/15/09
I placed reservations through their website and went to check in to my room a week later. When I showed the lady at the desk my I.D. she ripped my papers up and told me they could not accomodate me becuase I was under the age of 21. They however had no posting of this rule on their website and had no problem taking my credit card. I was treated very harshly and spoken to as if I were a five-year-old child. I also had the burden of finding another place to stay that night.

Warning...Do not stay here!!!
By Melissa, 10/24/08
What a stressful experience!!! I stayed here with friends as we had a convention in downtown SJ. After issues with earwigs, plumbing and a horrible night sleep, I checked out the next morning and asked to speak with a manager. The gentleman at the front desk wrote down the issues, then assured me that someone would call me w/i 24 hours. After several days, I followed up again, and once more...no manager on duty. (Nor is there a corporate office to resort to.)To make matters worse...the following week they proceeded to charge me 2 more times for the subpar room I resented paying once for!!! Again, I had to follow up several more times (4-5 phonecalls) to finally speak to Chuck the manager. Today, exactly 3 weeks later, I speak to Chuck and he's going to process the two night refund...oh and a $25.00 discount. Woohoo...$90.00 for a garbage room. Terrible accommodations, and horrible customer service. They should have a sign at the front desk...Warning: We are not responsible for anything...Stay at your own risk!!!

Heed the warning
By Yahoo User, 02/11/08
I dont usually review places but this place was absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed at. I do not understand the rating system if this place recieved three stars. When you drive up to this place it seems really nice but they must never leave the lobby to clean anywhere else. The only thing that could possibly have been remodeled in this place has got to be the lobby. The fixtures were outdated and dirty. The beds were hard and I dont think they had laundered the sheets. The comforter was ripped and stained. The bathroom had hair in the tub and the glasses were dirty. The refrigerator had food still in it from the previous occupant and it was moldy and smelled. The microwave made noise when operating and the refrigerator hummed all night. The television was extremely small and the remote did not work. They did offer a breakfast with the room but I would not dare eat there. The freeway is right next to the hotel and it does not get quiet at night.

Loved it!!
By Darcy, 08/06/07
We could not find a hotel closer to Santa Cruz so we took a chance with this one. We knew nothing about the town or area it is located in. The staff were very helpful. The gentleman that checked us in recommended a mexican restaurant right down the street. The food was very inexpensive and good. The rooms were clean, the pool very nice and the breakfast was wonderful. Although it is located next to the freeway we heard no traffic noise. We will stay here again.

Hop Skip and a Jump to the beach!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/06
I thought it was a pretty cool place. No pets allowed though. We needed a place to stay that was close to santa cruz and of course everything there is booked and we saw campbell inn right off the freeway, pulled over and actually got a room. Worked a deal with the night person and got a 2 bed room for $90. The furniture is very nice, beds are the regular firm hotel kind, the wife says the lotion smells good, free wireless internet, and close to downtown campbell if you want to check that out too. We'd stay there again.

Big changes - real nice place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
Things have obviously changed dramatically for this hotel. The service was great, front desk friendly and willing to go that "extra mile" with a genuine touch. The hotel has recently been upgraded. The landscaping is beautiful, the breakfast buffet wonderful, and our room was clean and well kept. The sparkling lights on the trees at night make it a romantic adventure. This is a "Campbell original" with a long and quaint history, I'm sure. The Pruneyard shopping center is virtually "next door," and we walked to the shops and restaurants. Los Gatos Creek Trail is next door, on the opposite side, and we walked past a waterfall and down to a beautiful little park with lots of parents with children. We also tried the Outback Steakhouse, Rock Bottom Brewery, Katie Blooms, and other nice restaurants. Thanks Campbell Inn, and we'll definitely be back.

you can do better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/05
While you will like the location -- right down the street from a quaint little downtown, there have always been mechanical problems during my stays. Tv doesn't get all channels, no hot water, door doesn't shut properly, etc. Not all at the same time of course, just recurrent problems.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/05
I was very dissatisfied with my stay at the Campbell Inn. Our door would not shut all the way, the refridgerator made an annoying sound all night long, there were ants in the bothroom, and when someone took a shower there would be a puddle around the tub waiting for them to step in when they got out. I left the next morning feeling that my hard earned money was wasted.

bird in the fireplace
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/04
this had to be the worst hotel my family and i has ever stayed at. the carpets and couches were all stained and when i pulled back the comforter to take a nap on the bed there was a large black stain on the sheets. the breakfast consited of what seemed like frozen eggs that had been heated in a mic and some terrible hash browns and thats it. the hospitality hour had only a plate of cheese and crakers.what finaly pushed us over the edge to leave after only one day was when we returned to the room and there was ashes everywhere around the fireplace. in the middle of the night we heard banging on the glass doors of the fire place. there turned out to be a bird stuck in the fire place.i would never recomend this place.
