Unethical manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/11
Parking was hard to find, because it was unmarked. The room was decent. Power went out a half hour after I checked in. I called the front desk, and they said it would be back on "shortly". I waited in the total dark for an hour. I wasn't tired enough to sleep yet, so I LEFT. I called back the next day and asked for a refund, and was flatly declined. The manager made a lot of excuses, like the guests were notified the night before (I wasn't THERE the night before), and it wasn't their fault. They admitted it WAS INDEED scheduled maintenance. They knew about it, yet still checked me in, hoping I wouldn't notice. ALL I could come up with was a five-letter name for this guy, that starts with cr and ends in k.

A TRIP BACK TO THE 70's!
By raiderhater, 6/5/10
This place is DEFINITELY NOT the Hilton but if you want a moderately priced room near the ocean in a 70's decor this is your place. It says "ocean view" and it does have a view but the water is about 1200' away, past a couple streets and a parking lot that are noisy and as busy as an interstate! There is a piece of history mounted on the wall in the bathroom! It's a box the size of a toaster with what looks like a vacuum hose hanging out, this is the hair dryer, definitely circa 1972. The TV is not any more modern, NO flatscreens here. How about a Zenith CONSOLE standing on a $20 tv stand, that's right I said CONSOLE? The best thing about this place is that the beach is a 2 minute walk. That made up for a lot of other deficiencies in the hotel. Probably a good place for a family stay for a weekend at the beach, not a quiet romantic getaway! Don't look for a pool, excersise room or hot tub here either.

Good Value
By Treen, 7/22/09
I was very unsure about booking this hotel online but all-in-all it was a pretty decent place to stay. The hotel is older though so there isnt any fancy accomodations but the rooms are very large and clean. The hotel sits on the beach side of the PCH so you do not have to cross any major streets to get to the beach but there is a small parking lot and a few small houses in between, so you do not sit right on the beach. The price was awesome compared to prices to stay near Main Street in Huntington Beach. We spent a lot of time in Huntington, since it is only a 5 minute drive down the PCH. The hotel has a small continential breakfast which you pretty much had to eat in your room. The A/C unit made some noise when turning on and off but nothing major. They also offer free parking. This is not a touristy spot so do not stay here if you are looking to walk out the door and visit beach shops but if your wanting to hang out on a beach or visit the Huntington pier this is a good, cheaper option.

Not too bad
By Family of 6, 7/15/08
Hotel Pros- We were given the option to choose a room with a HUGE balcony which faced the ocean. That was REALLY nice. The Cont. breakfast was great.Lots and lots of options for food. The room was quiet at night. The huge balcony made our stay very enjoyable. The free internet access was nice as well. The day time hotel manager was very professional and pleasant. Hotel Cons- The carpet in our room was VERY VERY dirty. My children were covered in black muck after playing on the floor for about 10 minutes. I took them to the manager to show him how dirty the carpets were and he told me they had just been cleaned...........which was NOT TRUE. They told us if we reminded them later in our stay they would clean them again..........which didn't happen. We put a blanket on the floor and our kids had to play on that blanket otherwise they needed another bath. I love giving my kids a bath.............but not 5 times a night while on vacation! The bathroom is extremely small. Only one adult can fit in it at a time. The shower doors and tiolet were very dirty. Not sure those specific items have ever been cleaned correctly. The pictures on this website can be misleading. Example, the beach picture you see with a hotel on the beach is NOT this hotel. That hotel is about 3 miles down the road on Huntington Beach. The fridge didn't work half the time in the room. Many of the amentities listed are not available. Also the hotel is very old and in much need of upgrades. So if you decide to stay here don't expect the kind of Ramada Hotel you would get elsewhere. This Ramada is on Sunset Beach (much older beach area with older stores/restaurants around). About 4 miles down Pacific Coast Highway is Huntington Beach. This is where all the action and GREAT shopping can be found.

Good location
By James, 4/23/08
Good location beach side. Older beach style hotel. Not a whole lot of tv channels. But with a beach view and free wifi worth the stay. Random fruit cereal and packaged items for breakfast.

Ramada Inn Sunset Beach
By no one, 8/5/07
This hotel was not so great. The air conditioner did not work. The refrigerator was on the brink most of the time (need to bring ice chest). The overall appearance inside and out was very run down; they have old couches in the hallways and a computer sitting on a desk that is about 25 years old. The breakfast is nothing more than muffins/danish, boxed cereal, boxed milk. The parking was okay (no lifted vehicles as they will not fit in the parking structure). The balcony was very nice with a decent view of the beach. There is a street alongside the back side of the hotel facing the beach, but some houses/apartments tend to block a lot of the view. The nicest thing about this hotel is that it is a 3 minute walk to the sand/beach. I am planning another trip to the beach in the next few weeks, but I will not be staying at this hotel. For the price of this hotel compared to one down the street, I would definitely stay some place else. There is also a Jack In The Box directly next door to this hotel that is very, very busy and noisy.

Would never return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/14/07
This place is not nearly as nice as advertised. In fact it does not actually have many of the amenitites it claims too. It is very run down and is in a bad section of town. It was no where near worth the money.

A big cheat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/07
Do not book this Hotel on line they cheat you they take your card number and in my case they charged 40.00 as a deposit. for holding the room? over and above the price of the room when I called the 1-800 number and questioned it. I was told they are independently owned and Ramada Inc. has nothing do with it the owner of the hotel said to bad. and to add to that the hotel is not worth 40.00 a night let alone 170.90

loud noise, poor security, rundown, filthy
By Guenter, 1/1/07
PROS: walking distance to beach CONS: loud noise, poor security, rundown, filthy There is a street between the hotel and the beach which takes away most of the view. But it is still in nice walking distance to the public beach, which should give it 5 stars for location. However this doesn't take into account the traffic noise from the Pacific Coast Highway, the noise from the idling busses and waiting passengers at the bus end station and the worst of all, the traffic noise and the very the loud intercom from the Jack in the Box which keeps you awake all night. The hotel is very rundown and the cleanliness is below motel standard. Another major concern is the poor security. The garage gate does not close, there are many unprotected side doors so that anyone can enter the hotel uncontrolled and the rundown room doors don't give much confidence either.
