Great location, service needs some work

We chose this hotel because it was located on the beach, which is great. It has a kitchenette, which is a big plus with two small children. Overall we were generally happy with our stay.
However, while speaking with the front desk regarding the hair dryer not working, the phone cut out and died. Fortunately, the bedroom phone still worked and they sent a repair guy a few minutes later who fixed both the hair dryer and replaced the phone. We had to ask for them to replenish our shampoo and the maid service neglected to dispose of the breakfast service tray. There is an in-room safe, however, the instructions are incomplete and while it is easy to operate, it neglects to indicate that one must first turn it ON! You have to call the front desk to find out how to do this. Also, if an ocean view is a must, be sure to specify that. Many rooms overlook their beach-front building that provide only a side glimpse of the ocean and a view of the horizon. Mostly your view is the back of a building.
On the plus side, we had requested two double beds and got a king, as that was all that was available, but it was very comfortable. They provided a nice quantity of decent pillows and had two televisions....another bonus with small children. There was a small fridge and microwave which we were grateful to have and we could walk down to the beach directly from the hotel, which was wonderful.
We would choose to stay here again. Our children loved the beach and we really need a hotel with a kitchenette - just don't expect great service!
