can't wait to go back
By tony, 11/14/07
stayed at the beresford and felt very safe in the neighbourhood as i was on my own.The only downside with the area was the countless homeless/beggars looking for money. The hotel room was small and the bathroom was tiny.Depending which room you are in it can be very noisy at night. The staff were very helpful and friendly.Overall the hotel was in an excellent location and great value for money.

Beresford review
By DonS, 6/14/07
This is a cute little hotel. I liked it the moment i step in the door. I didn't have a reservation but they took care of me right away. The room was perfect for an overnite stay. My only complaint would be that they did not have an internet connection in the room. It is located adjacent to the SF Academy of Art and a very safe part of the city.

Probably not again
By Raymond, 5/15/07
My room was near the restaurant in the hotel. People talking and laughing loudly at 11.35 pm caused disturbance. Besides, there was no hair-drier and the toilet flushing sound in other rooms was too loud.

this hotel is in a great location for chinatown, union square, cable cars, just about everywhere, the staff were very friendly the breakfast was good (but like everywhere else in america the tea was like dish water, sorry) the rooms are pretty small we had 3 sharing and it was pretty tight only down side was the carpet in the room it was in need of a good shampooing or replacing but other wise we had a great time.

Our home away from Home in San Francisco
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/06
We have stayed at the Beresford for years! We have tried the niche boutique hotels and always come back to the Beresford for its comfort and welcome feeling. The convenience of hot coffee and breakfast in the lobby, wine and cheese in the afternoon, walking distance to the square, clean rooms and friendly staff has made this our first and not ONLY choice. We have actually booked our friends there joining us in family celebrations, and the review is always the same...they love our choice of hotels. We will be spending out 4th Thanksgiving visiting our family at the Beresford...It is not the Ritz, no robes, or fancy linens and comforters; if that is your cup of tea..forget this hotelthere are plently of hotels at 2-3x the cost that can fill those requirements. We love this place!!

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/06
It was all it said it would be. It was in the perfect area for us. Nice neighborhood with just the right amount of San Francisco edge. Very artsy, lots of galleries and fun places to eat. My son and I went to visit The Academy of Art University. The campus was all around us. The front desk was so friendly and helpful. They put us at ease right away. I'll be back next time I visit the school.

Fantastic Hotel & Staff
By CARRIE LYNN HEIZEN, 9/22/05
I've stayed at both of the Beresford Hotels in San Francisco on a few occasions, partly due to business as I was the insurance agent for the owners and I would stay there to meet with them on business. But, I also chose to stay over each time while enjoying the city for personal reasons and I can assure you whole-heartedly that these are great hotels. The owners are about the nicest people you could ever meet and they care about their employees - and this carries over to the manner in which the staff treat the hotel guests. The staff are helpful and courteous - the rooms are vintage and unique - very clean and safe. The housecleaning staff do a great job and the chef's food in the restaurant is superb. I enjoyed the spa bath and heated bathroom with bodet and the kitchen facilities are excellent in the suite I stayed in. The honor bar is nicely stocked and there are lots of little amenities that add to the overall good experience. The hotels are within close walking distance to the old downtown sites, restaurants, and shopping and right by the cable cars - siutated near both the tourist sites and the business district as well. The lobby offers a nice breakfast and also free computers for guest use, as well as providing brochures on other vacation and entertainment choices. The valet was excellent - very little wait and so courteous and efficient - the front desk staff and also great. I'd highly recommend these two hotels to anyone wishing to stay in San Francisco! Tell the staff to tell Richard and Andy that Carrie thanks and hi!

worst hotel I've stayed in
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/05
hotel staff discurtious, room small, poor plumbing, sometimes hot water, linen was clean, carpet dirty, television - no cable, no satelite, remote control only went down, window wouldn't close and rattled, no view (brick wall), poor door locking system. Only stay here if you absolutely have to, its cheap.

Hotel Beresford great for value!
By Shawn, 8/27/05
This hotel is great for the price and location (within walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown, cable cars etc.) Heck the girlfriend and I walked to Fisherman's Wharf from there. The rooms are on the small side but this is ten times better than any of the cheap-y motels by the airport. The continental breakfast is what one would expect but the restaurant food is quite good. Now if you want luxury then the Omni, Hilton, or any other 3 to 4 star hotel will do. It's clean, serviceable and the people are nice. Also there is a bar in the hotel but the one right next door "Who's your daddy?" has a happy hour and a beer and a shot was $7! What else could you want?
