CLEAN & (RELATIVELY) INEXPENSIVE
As a result of a major budget motel chain's booking error, we found ourselves without any accomodations at 5:30 the night of our intended check-in. I was traveling to San Diego to take my oldest daughter to her orientation for San Diego State University. Also traveling with us were my 16 year old daughter and my 15 year old son. It was imperative that we have at least two beds, if not two rooms, each with two beds. At the very last minute - calling from the cell phone in the car, while en route toward San Diego, I called the Aztec Budget Inn. They saved a "Family Room" - there were two rooms, with a bed in each - without even requiring a credit card to hold the room. We didn't arrive until around midnite, because of a horrible traffic jam on I-5, and our room was waiting for us.
Evidently, there are at least two family sized rooms, because the one that we got (as I described above) wasn't exactly like the one that was described in the ad. The advertised family room offered multiple beds, as well as a pull out couch, that would have suited our specific needs exactly.
I started to stress out just a little, but I called the office and asked for a roll-away. I had never actually done that before, but I had heard of it being done. I was sceptical to say the least. But, lo & behold! within ten minutes: presto! a roll-away was delivered!
I was impressed! And so appreciative!!!
Take into consideration how the Aztec Budget Inn saved us from spending the night in the car. Now consider this: the rate for the larger sized, family room at the Aztec Budget Inn was lower than the basic room rate at that large budget chain I mentioned earlier. You know, the one that bungled our reservations in the first place.
The one question that I did have was regarding a couple of people in the parking lot when we arrived, in the middle of the night. There was nothing loud or overtly suspicious, and they may have just been night-people, but I did wonder.....
But, another factor that deserves mentioning is that the courtyard, and the plants were all well kept, and neat.
Overall, I would and will stay at the Aztec again.
Oh! The shower head is no more than 4' from the ground. A back-bendy showering stance was required. It wasn't a deal breaker, just a little quirk.
Exceptionally convenient to San Diego State University!
