Don't stay here!!
By MicheleC, 06/10/09
The smell inside the casita was absolutely foul, much like an old, untended porta-pottie. Attempts to fix the problem weren't successful. The advertised refrigerator didn't work and when two complaints finally brought a new one to the suite, it looked as if raccoons had nested in it. To avoid further delay, we cleaned it. Housekeeping was hyper to get into our suite but didn't leave enough soap and shampoo, no body lotion and no coffee. They didn't even take our trash out when we started complaining. We had to call for glasses, etc. and borrowed wine glasses from the bar. And the capper was my son's expensive swimsuit being stolen from the walled, locked hot tub off the back patio. We were very disappointed in this place as we had stayed there many times in the past with positive experiences. The desk staff was absolutely moronic and we had to carry our own bags (not what we had experienced in the past). Breakfast was very good but excruciatingly slow in service. The manager was sympathetic but useless . No compensations were offered as do many hotels when there are so many problems. We probably won't go back there as there are many very nice resorts in Scottsdale. It's a real shame. The property looks as if they are on their last legs, financially. Now we know why it was so inexpensive!

A dump in the middle of Scottsdale
By Mark, 10/18/08
The place is old and run down. It is inaccessable to fine dining and other activities. The food is marginal yet way overpriced. We had a conference last week and the restrooms were minimal for the attendees and they were poorly maintained. The rolls & cookies were stale and burnt. They do not have wireless internet and charge $15 a day for wired internet. The TV's had very minimal selection for free and the TV's were very old. I only had one chair in my room. They offered complementary water for $4 each. I have stayed at far nicer places in Scottsdale and Phoenix for far less. This is the worst resort I have stayed at ever in Scottsdale & Phoenix. This place belongs on Van Buren.

A Headache...
By Robyn, 10/05/08
The place was decent, , rooms were cozy, and the trolley car ride to my room was nice. but too many things ruined the stay. Roaches in our jacuzzi, not a big deal as they are a problem in AZ and I only had some ants on the counter inside but no roaches were inside the room itself during my stay. They couldn't find my reservation when I arrived and told me I didn't have one then later figured out that I did have one, again, no big deal but naturally my key didn't work in my door. They had things on their menu that they told me were not available. Someone put a dirty food tray from my room outside my front door and it sat there for at least 36 hours, I don't know why they would take the time to put it outside but not clean it up. The main problem lied with the fact that my room was payed for by someone else for me with their card and they took my bank card and ran it anyways for the bill after telling me they only needed my card in case of incidental damages. After talking with the property manager and getting it removed they recharged me a different amount on my card again. It has been over a week and they still have yet to get me the funds I am owed, my bank card is locked up and it sucks. In a one simple word I can sum my feelings towards this resort, incompetent.

Terrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/08
After flying cross country, arrived to find "Management" unaware of meeting scheduled MONTHS in advance. The layout is totally bizarre. Guests must walk 1/2 a mile around a shopping mall and private apartments to reach the lobby and restaurant! Rooms outdated and smell moldy. Front desk staff rude - "too busy" to assist guests in obtaining transportation. The only nice thing I can say about this supposed "Resort" was that the bell boys were helpful, and there are a few nice hammocks outside to escape from the terrible rooms.

Great Value for the Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/06
I've been to this hotel several times and have always been pleased. The staff and service has wonderful and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend the renaissance to anyone coming to Scottsdale. It may not be the fanciest hotel on the block, but it's definitely a great value and a very nice place to stay.
