Not a dog friendly hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/10
Loews Ventana undoubtedly is nestled beautifully in its mountain and desert location. Beds are comfy and the rooms are very clean. However we visited with our two goldendoodles and didn't find it dog friendly at all. Our pups barked ONCE in the room during the day when they got excited about going for a walk. We were then visited by SECURITY who said that our next door neighbors had complained!!! Further, the Ventana Canyon Trail does not allow dogs on the trail. So if you've come to spend time with your pups on the trail, forget it! In addition, Loews is huge with long, long corridors and few exits and entrances. I felt that I would never be able to find an exit quickly in case of fire.

\"Pick your Price\" at the Canyon Cafe
By Linda, 7/5/09
The Canyon Cafe has a "Pick your price" luncheon menu, meant to allow people to pay what they believe is a fair price and one which they can afford in the current economy. However, when we went there for lunch, one of the the persons in our party ordered a "pick your price" item from the menu,(the "pick your price" items have no dollar amounts listed on the menu) and was charged $34 for his lunch! No option to pick his own price was given. And $34 was not what he had planned to pay, either. The food was good, if not plentiful, and the wait staff attentive. Just be careful.

Nickel and Dimed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/08
There were fees and charges everywhere I looked. I arrived in my room thirsty from my trip and was welcomed by two big bottles of water.....for $12! Most hotels aspiring to this class welcome you to your room, Loews Ventana immediately started trying to weasel extra fees out of me. They advertise high-speed internet, but it's not wireless and they want $12 a day or some similar extortionate rate. My cell phone wouldn't work on the property, and there was a $1 surcharge for each phone call, even local calls. Every time I turned around it seemed they wanted another fee. This is supposed to be a high end property, not Motel 6. This mercantile approach wasn't gracious or welcoming. It was a lovely site, but won't return until the corporate management stops seeing guests as walking ATMs.

Great place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/07
Visited this hotel with a two-year-old child in August 2007. The service is top notch! Very kid/pet friendly. Hotel was very clean and the rooms are great...big with great mattresses. Super bathrooms - I have never seen such a big bathtub. Only complaint is that the restaurants on site are expensive. The hotel is in close proximity to many, many restaurants if you have a car to get there. But if you plan to eat on site the entire time you are there, plan to spend some bucks. A breakfast consisting of three eggs, toast, and some orange juice is $21.00, just to give you an idea. Other than food prices, this hotel cannot be beat. Absolutely beautiful, romantic, and relaxing.

Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
My fiance and I went here for a get away before the big day. We really enjoyed ourselves. The service was great, they would jump at a moments notice for any issue, the rooms were clean and the staff ensured that while we were out each time that the room be cleaned and refreshed with new towels etc. The bed turndown service is great too,I wasn't expecting this but it was a pleasent surprise each night plus we got some chocolate to enjoy when we returned. One thing that I didn't care for was the room location. We were offered many upgrades when we arrived but because we didn't take them, I felt as if we received a not to par room location, the check in staff asked why we were visiting and ensured we would would have a great view etc for our special visit, but that was not the case. We were put right next to the elevator and ice machine and no view. For the money that was spent, I would of preferred to be moved to a quieter location. Now I will visit again in the future, but now I am aware of these challenges and ensure that I don't experience this again.

This would be our top choice for Tucson
By Nancy, 11/2/06
We felt like we were driving to the very outskirts of Tucson, but its location nestled next to the foothills was wonderful. You have to be willing to negotiate the city streets to get around Tucson, so a good map helps, or a relative who lives there! We walked around the grounds and enjoyed the trails. There was a marvelous thunderstorm and we enjoyed watching the lighting show one evening from the top of the tower at Loews. It had quite a view of the city with the lighting framing the sky, like pictures from Arizona Highways. The restaurant there is superb, rated in the top 100 restaurants in the United States by USA Today and we had no trouble getting reservations after we arrived. The staff was helpful and attentive, eager to provide suggestions or assist you in any way. The atmosphere was relaxed, in a genuinely southwestern way!

Way Over priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/06
Not what I expected at all. They acted like I wasn't "good enough" to stay there. I had my work out clothes on when I checked in, but so what. The staff is very snooty and the place just isn't all that great. The restaurant was good however.

Back again soon
By Jan H, 7/22/06
We stayed at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in early July of 2003. We were evacuated before we could really enjoy all that the resort had to offer. The resort was very proactive about the safety of their guests in the evacuation. The spa is out of this world--best massage ever. Animals are welcome and treated like special guests too! The rooms are huge and the max in luxury!!We loved the restaurants, food was excellent. Make restaurant reservations at the time you book your rooms, they are very popular. We hope to get back there this summer. It is everything you could want for a great getaway--even in the heat of the summer.

Best hotel ever
By George H, 7/1/06
The scenery really makes this hotel. I have never been so awestruck by scenery. My room overlooked mountains and a natural waterfall. There were exotic animals everywhere, and the weather was great. Now I know why all the celebrities own homes overlooking the hotel. Service was great too.
