Captain's Choice Motel, Haines

My suggestion to this motel is to move the rental cars out of the much needed guest parking spaces. Parking is very limited, and I dont know anone who wants to park a block down from the motel their staying at. The view was beautiful and pets are welcomed. No free wifi access. You have to pay to use it. I would say this is the first place I have ever stayed in which a paying guest must pay for internet use.

The view is priceless and pets are very much welcomed. Captian Choice does not offer wifi or data ports as advertised on the motel website. If you do stay there you will find that the in room guest service books brags about having wifi as well. After trying to connect and making a phone call down to the customer service desk we were told that the motel no longer offers wifi or any internet service. The desk agent referred us to call AT&T for internet service at a fee. Check out time is 11am and housekeeping will be watching for you to clear. Kinda rude having the house keeper walk by our room looking in to see if were gone. While we were packing out she just stared at us like we were alien or something. I tried to make small talk but both the house keepers were in a bad mood to talk. The room is very clean and a nice place to stay. For us it's important to have the wifi connection. For those who need a place to stay with a great view this is the place in Haines. It's 3 miles from the Alaskan Marine Ferry, which puts the motel in a great location for the many who travel via the ferry. No Military discount at Captians Choice Motel. The price is fair for Alaska.

Beutifull View, GREAT staff, Right downtown. A little on the pricey side but then not many places to stay. It was also a bit noisey, not the hotels problem but the parents of the kids making noise. Being on the old side, not alot of insulation in the rooms for sound.

The most important item any hotel can provide is clean room, this hotel does very well here. Even if it is a little out of date. The breakfast is very limited and small, but ok. Plain bagels, and a few different muffins. 7am to 9am. WiFi is a good item to have, works ok if you are not too far from the top building. Fridge and microwave. Cable tv, with showtime, no HBO. Amazing views.

Large rooms with small fridge and microwave. Great view of inlet and harbor. The continental breakfast was small but the norm for a motel. Wireless internet is a big plus for me.
