Great Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/09
I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The staff was friendly and helpful.I stayed here because the Battle House was booked that weekend and I like Mariott hotels. The room was very clean and in good shape. The valet seemed a little slow, but we were there with a convention so I think they were very busy.

Up to date review

This fabulous hotel was renovated in 2007 and reopened as a Marriott Renaissance. Old reviews (from before November 2007) hold no water to the hotel that stands today. It is new, fresh, hip and comfortable with an amazing restaurant and fresh, young staff eager to help and make your stay the best it can be.

Booked Event
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/07
I am from Mobile and recently contacted the sales office to arrange for an event later in the year. The sales person ignored 5 request to return my telephone call and when I did actually reach him, by repeated calling, he was of little help, however he did promise to return my phone call within 2 days. As you may have guessed, no phone call was received. I called someone in the corporate offices in Mobile and was assured they would return my phone call the next day. They too failed to return my call but apparently did have the origianl sales agent return my phone call (an additional 5 days later). He stated they were not interested in handling my request and when I asked for further explanation he stated, "there is not enough bang in the buck". Incidentally, to all persons reading this and hearing about the RSA Battle House Hotel, be aware they are the same properties, managed by the same Marriott offices in Mobile. Truly dissappointed in the manner of service provided by this hotel.

BEWARE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/07
The housekeeping service here was terrible. I called and requested new towels for my room because the ones they left were stained and it took them 2 hours after I called two times. I also had to call several times to request that shower cleaner be sent to my room since the housekeeper did not clean my bathtub. I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights because of a work conference. I will never stay here again. For the price of the rooms and the service and cleanliness of the hotel IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! And on top of all these things, all the amenities are closed because the hotel is under major construction. Despite this they are still charging the same rates for the rooms. It is a great location, but they have a long way to go before I will spend my money there again. I would try to find another hotel in that vacinity if you want the experience of partial luxury!

Reservations what a joke BEWARE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/26/07
We made reservations at this hotel 9 months ago and when we arrived we were told that they had no more rooms with 2 double beds and we would have to take a king size bed. Asked what about our reservation and was told that they do not guarantee rooms!!!!!!!! Mighty funny no one told us when we made reservations. Did not offer any type of compensation for their over booking. Charged for internet service 9.95 per day. Parking is 12.00 per day. Seems ridiculous to have to pay to park at your own hotel when rooms are this expensive. No room service. Went to get desserts to go was told would have to wait over 1 hour to be helped.

Enjoyed the Location, but the view, NOT as much.
By Jacob, 11/08/05
I enjoyed the location because it was right there where you could walk right down the road to a great restaraunt like "Spot of Tea" (On Sundays, One can enjoy a great Brunch of Eggs Benedict and Dangerous Hashbrowns). You could go right across the street to the Exploreum which is a great science, nature, etc. exhibit for children of all ages (even 55). The service was great from management. The front desk clerk was very rude, but I talked with management over some price issues, and everything was worked out. The price is a good bit, but the Hotel is beautiful. The lobby itself has live entertainment of a piano/saxophone player and an open cocktail bar (I don't drink, so I couldn't tell you how good the drinks are). If your looking for a great place to stay for a honeymoon or anniversary It's got #1 quality written all over it, but because of costs issues, if your looking for a family vacation hotel spot, I wouldn't suggest it. There is a lot there for Children to break. ALSO: GREAT PLACE TO HOLD A WEDDING RECEPTION OR BANQUET!!!

This place is awesome!
By MzFlyDreadzz, 09/26/05
I love the Riverview Plaza because it is located in the heart of downtown Mobile Alabama! The best time to go is during Mardi Gras...Mobile is the ORIGINAL HOME OF MARDI GRAS, now we love New Orleans but Mobile is the "TRUE" home! The Riverview Plaza is right across the street from the IMAX theater and it's also across from the cruise terminal! It's 5 miles away from the shopping malls and its about 30 mins from Fairhope Beach! The service is great, the rooms are clean and the price to stay is very reasonable! If you are ever in Mobile please go to the riverview plaza!!! You'll Love it!!!

Never again.
By Kim M, 08/31/05
My sons and I went in March 2005. We were refused a rollaway bed. (My sons refused to sleep in the same bed.) One of them slept on the floor. After eating in the hotel restaurant which was $185 for the 3 of us, without dessert or side dishes, we chose the option to add the meal to the bill and pay at the end of our stay. The desk clerk called at 10:30pm, waking us up demanding that the bill be paid immediatly. I had to get dressed, go down and pay the dinner bill at that hour of the night. The bathroom was mildewed and the commode leaked making a puddle between it and the tub. Over priced for the room and the inconsideration of the staff in waking us up. I asked why we were given the option of applying the dinner to the room if we could not us the service. No answer was given but an "uh....". NEVER AGAIN.
