Ashbury Hotel & Suites, Mobile

The Ashbury is really a motel that has no dining room or bar area. Rooms are average and clean. The bathroom had a ledge about a foot wide and no place to put anything. The wash basin was under the ledge and you have reach to the back to use the faucets. We were there for a military reunion. Unless you have your own transportation you are really isolated. Not a good reunion location. As for the "free" breakfast we have had much better at the Hampton Inns.

Lost $800.00 out of my car during my stay. Will NEVER stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights at the motel for an event that was held on the premises. Like the previous review stated, the "suite" was just two motel rooms back-to-back with an opening between them (should have read that review before hand). The AC units in each room had to be turned on when we arrived in the room, but even running full blast, the units still didn't cool the room. After 2 hrs. we called maintenance and they were quick to respond but simply told us we had to the the AC units a chance to cool the room. I'm sorry, BUT if you know you have guests booked for the night, wouldn't it make sense to keep the units "ON" to cool the room for your guest's comfort as well as preventing mold and mildew??..... Especially in Mobile, AL on a 98 degree June day with 95% humidity outside! After 8 hours the rooms were still not cool and we again reported the problem with no result. We were told the maintenance staff was gone for the day. At that point we asked for fans to move the air around and NO one ever responded to that request. Even with new carpet, mattresses and bedding, it's still just an old motel that isn't very well maintained although it was clean. Bathrooms are tiny (with a rubber bath mat to boot!), Smoking and Non-smoking rooms are not separated, the outside pool had some kind of residue or debris that hadn't been skimmed so no could use it. It will need a total renovation for me to ever consider staying at this facility again. As far as the staff- The front desk staff was friendly on check-in but I couldn't say the same the remainder of the stay. As a redeeming factor, the conference staff was wonderful and the food was great. We only had breakfast one morning and to our surprise it was a hot meal, not just bagels and coffee. Our event was a success only because of the conference center staff and their friendly service. I'd not suggest this motel to anyone except as a last resort.

We stayed 3 nights & had friends in other rooms. Paid $120 for suite which was in the old part of the hotel that has outside entrances on the parking lot. It was just two regular rooms with an opening between them. The toilet & tub were in a room smaller than a closet. We saw the maintenance man very often as he would go from room to room replacing light bulbs, fixing toilets, etc. I have to say that maintenance was quick to repair things. I liked the fact that there were two tv sets & two bathrooms. Worst part was maid's rolling carts in the mornings - they were so loud - you couldn't sleep in. The breakfast was liked by some in our party, but I couldn't eat it. It didn't change any - was the same every day. The mattress was comfortable. The sofa bed was not.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable we were in the older part of the hotel but still satisfied. The breakfast was not the greatest but filling and free.I would consider staying at Ashbury in the future.

The rooms were not clean. Mold was growing in the trashcans, roaches in the bathroom. The maids stole my earrings and ate our food out of our room!! The only positive thing about this hotel was the staff was very friendly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

THE HOTEL WAS NASTY..... THE STAFF VERY RUDE...... KING ROOM WITH (2) TOWELS???? THE PICTURE ON INTERNET NOTHING LIKE THE ACTUAL HOTEL..............I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAYING AT THIS HOTEL.... YOU CAN GET A LOT NICER HOTEL FOR THE SAME PRICE...........WOULD NEVER TAKE A FAMILY (KIDS).... AS I SAID BEFORE THE STAFF IS VERY RUDE..........

Arrived late for a family reunion and when the bed covers were unfolded body waste discovered (urine) on the sheets. It is obvious that the beds are not re-dressed after guests leave. If so, definite not on a consistent basis. This observation was further confirmed when it was learned that other guests had the same and similar results ( including blood stains on the bed linen). Very very unsanitary conditions. Do you need anymore reason to not think of lodging at Asbury Hotel in Mobile, Alabama? I would love to know if there are standards that the hotel should be accountable to.

We stayed three nights and our room was right in front of the elevator and it was so quiet ! The women working the breakfast bar were so kind and the food was great. The room was spacious and clean and the price was fair. I will stay there again.

The photos of the hotel on the internet looked a lot better than reality. I am currently staying the week here for business. Since I work for a state agency they are cheap, and cheap is what you get. The bathroom is old and there is mold on the tub. The bed is old, the linen below average, and the bedspread is polyester with a burn hole. The breakfast is "dog food" and the internet is intermittent. If you can afford better, go there.
