Rocky first visit- excellent on return
Our group chose this new in 2008 Hampton Inn on the edge of downtown Florence because it was close to our event, and walking distance to restaurants downtown.
On our first visit in 2008, we had a rocky start, as all my work setting up our group with pre-check in went awry, as the master folio was lost, and the clerk on duty when we arrived on saturday evening was completely unaware we were coming, and could not cope. GM Vickie Atwood came in, and after some looking, found the correspondence and master folio. After profuse apology, she made it right, and our group has returned 3 or 4 times since, the last time Nov. 2010. I am about to book 20 rooms again for next October.
I would follow up any phone reservations with email confirmation, and then a phone call a week or so before, just to make sure there are no surprises. Other than that, the place is fairly new, and I found the rooms and public areas clean. The hotel is fairly quiet, which I like. Nice restaurants downtown are from 4 to 8 blocks away, and it feels safe to walk at night.
