Hampton Inn and Suites Florence Downtown, Florence

We stayed here because my sons team was playing in a baseball tournament in Florence and this is where they chose to stay. Long story short....I got stuck in their elevator with my husband and another hotel guest. We pressed the "open door" button several times, then pressed the button to call for help which was answered by an irritated sounding desk clerk. We told her we were stuck she said "ok". After a couple more minutes we called again, same response. This went back & forth 5 or 6 times. Finally the girl in the elevator with us called her friend who was waiting for her in the lobby from her cell phone , he pressed the button for the elevator...AND THE DOOR OPENED....simple as that! We found the clerks we were talking to behind the desk looking like deer caught in headlights. They just could not understand why we were so upset even though we were just stuck in an elevator for over 10 minutes in a hotel full of families with small children. First they said the maint man was on his way & they were waiting for him to let us out (they didnt tell us that over the intercom while we were stuck) then they told us they weren't calling anyone because nothing was wrong with it (all in the same conversation) Never once did they apologize for anything nor did they show anything even remotely resembling customer service or even human compassion. I wouldn't let these people board my dog & I will certainly never darken their doorstep myself again. Their property description boasts great views. Only if you like parking lots, traffic, and cheap hotels. The pool is indoors and tiny. Our rate for a suite was $160 We moved to the Marriott Shoals Spa & Resort which was perfect as always. All rooms have balconies overlooking a beautifully landscaped pool and the TN river. There is also an indoor pool and great restaurants. The staff always goes above & beyond.
