Bay Gardens Inn, Gros Islet

I just wanted to add a comment about Bay Gardens Inn in specific and the Gros Islet area in general. I am just getting ready to take off from Bay Gardens Inn (BGI) after 9days of stay with my wife. I heard a lot of comments from other vacationers here about how they seem to be afraid of staying in anything but cruise ships or isolated luxury hotels with all included. We stayed at BGI and payed less than half of what many other people payed and consequently had a lot more money to spend on activities and shopping (we did almost every tour the Barefoot Holiday people had to offer). We found BGI to be in a perfect place, very central with every shop and service literary around the corner. Ex: my wife's glasses broke the first day and we got them fixed in 10min and $10 around the corner at the Optician. This alone could have been a major hassle w/o this service. We could buy food at the local grocery store instead of eating every meal at a pricey restaurant. This is a major saving especially if you bring kids (like many at BGI). I have many advice to people on what to do at St. Luica and not to do if you care to know. In any case,the bottom line is, dont be afraid of mixing with the locals, just use some common sense, its a poor country. (I am much more afraid in central Washington DC than here). Tip well, don't be cheap and be friendly and respectful (always the same Golden Rule!) and you will see that there are a tremendous number of very nice and interesting people that will enrich your journey tremendously. In fact they make it all worth while. And one more thing: BGI is close to EVERYTHING (incl the islands best restaurant : "The Edge", pricey but well worth the money) and the beach is a 5min shuttle trip away. (And I am not paid to say any of this; just try me with questions; I am a Swede living in the DC suburbs, very far from any commercial interests on St. Lucia). We arrived at Bay Garden 17th Dec 2006 to a beautiful smile from the front desk and from that moment me and my wife had the perfect honeymoon. The room was beautifully decorated, it was clean,the AC was the perfect temperature,usually when we visit any place for the first time it is hard to sleep that first night but we slept like little babies. The restaurant service was top class we had no complaint what so ever ,the only thing missing was [cocou and flying fish] SMILE' yes I am a bajan.I must mention one of the employees in the restuarant, her name is Lydia Alexandra, she was very nice, always served with a smile and very helpful.We certainly will be back in the near future.We will also recommend your Hotel to all ours friends and anyone who is looking for a Honey Moon destination.My name is John Hinds and my wife"s name is Mrs Jannis Hinds.Thanking you for the most beautiful week of our live.

There is a special charm about Bay Gardens Inn that made my Wedding perfect. I had a few doubts at first when I found it on the internet but those doubts were quickly swept away by the golden treatment I received from the staff upon my arrival. It was simply superb. There was a nice cozy flow to how everything unfolded that just left my guests and me in awe of the wonderful work of the Bay Gardens Inn staff. Ms. Patrick the super-energized and warm Manager took care of my husband and I very well. It was simply amazing because all of the staff made us feel very comfortable at every turn it is unforgettable. The rooms were well arranged, kept spotlessly clean, decorated and wonderfully maintained for us. All the stress I had anticipated having just continued to melt away the longer we stayed. It was simply memorable the way they worked hard just to make it happen for us. The way they paid attention to detail and allowed us the time and space to enjoy the event will be something I will never forget. Our one week stay which included our Wedding and Honey Moon on the 27th May, 2006 was really like a dream - I mean from the pick-up at the airport, to the warm encouragement from everystaff, the beautiful decorations, timing, garden decor and the arrangements for the wedding. Everything just fell right into place. Oh the food, it was simply sumptuous. During the speeches some of our relatives spoke about how the ambience of the intimate Bay Gardens setting and the staff made them feel specially catered to. I am so happy that I chose Bay Gardens Inn and I encourage anyone of you looking for a great place to wed to head directly to Bay Gardens Inn I must stress again -IT IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY-. You will be overwhelmed by their hospitality and expertise. Ms. Patrick is like a diamond on what is already a golden crown. I wish to offer my heartfelt thanks once again to Ms. Patrick and her staff for giving us an unforgettable wedding experience.I am looking forward to a return vocation in the near furture.
