Wonderful vacation
By ,
After having read some of the very negative reviews on this site, my husb and I were a little worried. I'll say that I think the people who wrote the really negative ones are crazy. First of all, we chose Dreams because it was highly recommended to us by a co-worker of my husband's who has been there twice. The place was beautiful, service excellent and the food (except for the Italian place (Portofino), which was horrible) was surprisingly good! True, you can't swim in the ocean at the hotel, but everyday at 11 am they do a "beach walk" down to a swimmable, and awesome, beach in front of another hotel--about 15-20 min walk. I am an ocean person and was at disappointed when I heard about this, but it is, nonetheless, incredibly relaxing to sit undercover on the beach at the resort. The pool is very nice, although they should probably drain it down and get rid of some of the mildew that is inevitable in tile grout that is constantly in water. I will say that in August, and I hear Sept also, it is quite hot and humid there, but less people around to deal with. I recommend planning on a few meals off site on trips to Cabo or San Jose (I highly recommend "The Office" on Medano Beach in Cabo and Baja Brewing Company (if you like beer) in San Jose. We got sucked into the time share thing, and to our astonishment actually bought one on Medano Beach in the heart of Cabo.....we can't wait to go back!!

BUsiness is business but wehre do you sraw a line?
By ,
It all started even before we set our foot on the Mexican soil. We had picked this hotel from the database of our timeshare exchange company. The moment we had the exchange go through we were bombarded with the phone calls from the hotel stating that we MUST pay all-inclusive fee in front (even though it was February and our travel was scheduled for July) or they'll cancel the exchange. It took a lot of calling to the exchange company's reps and their calling to the hotel to make sure they live us alone. Then they've sent us a welcome letter stating that they'll help with the transportation, for the fee, of course. We, unfortunately, agreed. As we landed in Cabo we realized that we could grab a taxi for the half of that price, but it was too late and the money paid for the transportation was not refundable. In the hotel we were constantly bombarded by the reps from the time share sales office giving us a ton of lame reasons as to why we MUST attend the time share sales presentation. To make sure we can have a nice rest of vacation we agreed for the 90 minutes of that torture. 90minutes has become 2 hours, but who counts, right? and after that, since we did not want to buy anything they've forgotten of all the perks they've promised to us to attend the presentation. I really did not care much being happy that they left us alone, but my wife was pretty ticked off because of that, but of course, you could not find anyone anymore ALL OF THE SUDDEN, to find out what happened to all those promises. There was a humongous diesel truck doing something right on the beach all week. Listen, maybe the time to do things on the beach is in the off season??? There were 3 weddings in the hotel. 2 on the 3rd of July and one on the 4th. So, with all the brides, grooms, bridesmaids and best men all over the place the hotel looked like a Zoo. Beisdes the fact that most of them and their invited friends were so drunk that instances of people being completely out of comtrol were just as common as the birds and lizards trying to snatch things out of your plate. Staff did not pay much attention to all of that. One thing about the staff. On their website they say that ALL, I repeat, ALL of the staff members are bilingual. Yea, right. They may be bilingual, but the second language is not English, that's for sure. The entertainment group is a bunch of loooosers. They were so lame, people did not even want to bother to pay attention to them. Drinks in the bar were OK as long as you would tell the bartender Exactly! what you want, otherwise they'll poor some stuff that would, most likely, be used in the engines as degreaser.

Decent, but not worth the money
By ,
Let me start by saying that as an airline pilot I travel A LOT.. I am half Mexican, and speak Spanish fluently, so language and culture differences were not factors in my impressions. I also usually love the food in Mexico..I think it is generally fresher, better flavored and less processed than in the U.S. I have an iron stomach, but can discern good quality food from bad...On some reviews you will read about the bad food here. I did not want to believe it, but unfortunately, this is the weak point of this resort. Also, people complain about the cab rides at the airport. They cost $13/pp in a van, more by cab. This is probably the only place in Mexico where you cannot negotiate the cab rides due to a union presence. The ocean water is clean and beautiful, as are the beaches. Very empty this time of year, with no vendors on the beach. The hotel was very clean, and our room was great, but I could see that it depends on what room you get. Some of the rooms seemed to be in an older part of the building, and are probably are not that great. The service was for the most part excellent, with the exception of a couple of bartenders in the lobby bar with a terrible attitude..they were flat out arrogant and loved to ignore people. This was the consensus by a lot of people there. The manager was not really interested in talking about that. Now, the food...the breakfast buffet was very good..you can get eggs to order with mexican salsas and chilaquiles...delicious. Surprisingly, the juices were not fresh squeezed.. The rest of the food was flat out poor. My ceviche was actually frozen...A fish fillet was hard as a rock and the rice was out of a bag..the meats were raw, tough, and poor quality, despite the menus promises of angus beef..At the italian place, the frutta di mare had little shrimp and rock hard octopus...the appetizers were absolutely awful, the bread old abd poor quality..the guacamole was sometimes good, but one time gave me a stomach ache. The drinks are fine..if they are weak, just get another one..I would return to Cabo, but would try another resort...the dealbreaker was the food...Good Luck!!

Not a pleasant first all-inclusive trip
By ,
The resort is beautiful and very clean. Rooms are a great size and all have an ocean view. However, the service and food leave a lot to be desired. If you have more than 4 people for dinner, expect it to take quite a while. We finally got our soup at the pan-asian restaurant 2 hours and 20 minutes after being seated. Some of the bartenders are great and some will ignore you even if you have a tip in hand... all of them will serve weak drinks. The "fully stocked" mini-fridge in the rooms consists of 4 7oz mexican beers, 4 bottles of water, 2 cans of coke, and 2 cans of diet coke. Suprisingly the best food by far is the buffet in El Patio. A couple of hints to close out my review... Pack more dress clothes than you would think as the restaurants all have dress codes (even the one by the pool doesn't want flip-flops at lunch). The event staff are great especially "mexican rules" beach and pool volleyball. Expect every bar to close at least 45 minutes earlier than advertised. Don't bring your surfboard because you are not allowed in the ocean. All being said, I would research other options before booking here.

DO NOT STAY AT DREAMS
By ,
We just returned from our trip to Dreams. We traveled with an infant and were pretty much stranded at the resort. I never imagined that would be a problem but it was. Our room had a foul odor and we had to fight with management for a new room. The smell was so bad that the stench was in our clothes after we changed rooms. Our new room was right next to the noisy hotel bar. The restaurants were very mediocre. Not luxurious. No golf course so I'm not sure why they call it a golf resort. False advertising?

We can't wait to go back
By ,
a) We had all exclusive deal and that allowed 24 Hours Rm Service.. b) property was well maintained, very clean and grounds were beautiful. c) enough lounging available by the ocean d) lots of activities on the resort itself at night that you can enjoy after having a day long of adventurous activities e) Breakfast was great f) Dinner may get boring after a week if you aren't into exploring different cuisine g) We stayed in the Honeymoon suite and there were no issues at all with housekeeping disturbing h) View from the room was awesome. We recommend staying on 4th or 5th floor... and recommend going in Sept. due to less traffic i) Renting a car is probably best vs. taking local transport, may get expensive at times since all activities are located least 10 miles away and drivers are sooooooo slow :(.. j) Overall we can't wait to go back :D) This is where we got engaged .. Hope this helps you out :D

Terrible Honeymoon Location
By ,
My Husband and i just returned from our Honeymoon and Dreams and were really excited to go. We did lots of research on where we wanted to stay and finally decided to stay at Dreams....What a let down. The rooms, pool, and resturaunts look nice from afar but then when you get up close they are FILTHY and Disgusting. Every night there was not enough sheet to cover the bed and we were sleeping part on the dirty mattress, the shower curtain and the shower head had mold and mildew growing on them. In addition to it being dirty, everytime we put our do not disturb sign up they called us to make sure we were okay, Hello we were on our Honeymoon! The food was terrible, we both couldn't wait to get home to eat decent food-they only decent tasting food was breakfast. In addition DO NOT eat any lettuce, fruit, etc...I was worried and avoided water, but thought the resort food would be ok to eat...boy was I wrong, I'm still paying for it today (3 days after we got back).

Nice!!
By ,
We went here on our honeymoon and loved the beauty and service. The servers were excellent, the pools were refreshing, and the hammocks were relaxing (not to mention the couples massage!) The only regret was to find out that you CANNOT go swimming off the resort's beach. The undertoe is incredible.... but at least the waves were beautiful! If you want to swim, go into town to Lover's Beach. Also have fun walking along the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean on Divorce Beach (about 1,000 yards away from Lover's Beach). There is also a small inlet if you travel North up the beach from the hotel that you can swim in. The room service was also great... with little goodies for honeymooners! :) Don't forget your own sunblock - you'll pay a large price for the smallest bottle!

A True Get-Away!
By ,
The resort is beautiful! If you are looking for a family retreat, this is the place. The people are wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. I would whole-heartedly recommend this resort. The only negative was that my husband left behind his cell phone and the hotel was very difficult when it came to having it returned. We ended up sacrificing it and buying another. Bad ending to an otherwise fabulous trip!
