The Northshore Hostel Maui, Maui

I thought the hostel was quite well organized. I thought it was a good idea that they explicitly reviewed the rules of the hostel at check in. While I was initially concerned about the noise levels there, I slept soundly in my single rooms. The employees at the front desk were concerned about my comfort and helpful when I requested assistance. The price on the snorkel rental was very reasonable. While not at the beach, the hostel is in close proximity to restaurants, stores, and other services. My only suggestion would be that the office open an hour earlier (7 am) for those of us who started out early in the morning.

The folks at Northshore Hostel are, in a word, fantastic! They keep the place in tip-top shape (they even shampooed the carpets while I was there!). There is nothing ritzy, but everything is kept clean and orderly (especially the bathrooms). They actually observe a 10 p.m. quiet time, which makes nights restful for all. There are numerous condiments and even breakfast-fixin's in the kitchen for everyone's use. I think it is a testimony to the quality of the environment that the community is roughly half under-forty and half over-forty. It's a place where anyone can feel at home. If/when I return to Maui, I won't even look for a new place. I think Northshore is about as good as it gets!

I felt welcomed by the staff at Northshore Hostel the minute they answered the phone. Everyone on staff is friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean, and the location is wonderful. I would recommend staying here any time to anyone wishing to have a fun, interesting and educational travel experience. Thanks everyone for making my stay so easy and enjoyable!

The Northshore Hostel Maui is definitely a very good place to stay. I shared the 8 beds room with foreigners mostly american it was great. The receptionist is lovely, there is a very good entertainment, people sharing their food, behave on the terrass balcony..a big living room with TV..people share about plans, good deal..well you have to stay there!!!

Very nice hostel, one of the cleanest i´ve ever been to. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and so is the rest of the hostel. We had a 4 bed private room, clean nice and safe. One of the beds were a little bit to "loud" when you turned ove in bed, but not to bad. The location is ok. Not that much to do in the city, you basically need a car. it is close to the airport. Staff is very friendly and helpful! Overall a superb hostel and i very much recommend it!

Staff were friendly and helpful..Hostel was clean and well maintained..My home away from home... Staff may want to become more familiar with the local Art scene.

It was my first hostel experience and will definitely not be my last. I met so many great people! This is definitely not a party hostel, but we had a few drinks and enjoyed each others company on more than one occasion. Quiet time is at 10PM and it's enforced pretty strictly, which is a good thing. There were a few nights where there was some noise after 10pm, but if that bothers you there are earplugs for purchase and of course you're welcome to go to a hotel or resort. The bathrooms and common areas are well maintained and you can tell that the guests care as much about the cleanliness as the staff. The staff is friendly, helpful and always has deals on local activities. They also rent mopeds to get around the island. There is no smoking on the premesis, but easy enough to walk across the street to enjoy your vice. Remember to throw your extinguished butts in the garbage! Keeps the city beautiful. There is a local Banyan Tree park, a french bakery next door with many food selections, and a new taco stand right on the corner. They're very good too. There's a little shopping in Wailuku and it's a 4 or 5 block walk to the bus stop to get you down to Kahului or Lahaina. 3 miles up the road is Iao Valley which is beautiful and full of trails and barbecue spots for the family. There is also a Portugeuse, Koren and Chinese garden up there detailing the history of the Asian population's contribution to the island and their rich history ever since they immigrated to work the sugar cane fields. I did not have a bad experience and met some lifelong friends there. I even met a kid from the same small, country town I was from. It was crazy! All in all I highly recommend the Northshore Hostel. But rent a car. Because you'll need one to get around the island. I did fine on the bus system, but really wish I would have rented a car.

After traveling Australia, NZ and Asia Ive seen way to many hostels...coming to Hawaii I was expecting a dodgey run down joint. I was plesantly suprised to find it clean, well lit, comfortable, managed perfectly, nice balcony area, heaps of info and tour options. I would recommend it to anyone who want to enjoy the 'backpacker' life while in Maui.

one night at a female dorm.it isquite and clean, they have very friendly staff, free international and local call, free shuttle to and from airport.No lockers in room though.
