Incredible vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/08/10
The Maya Beach Hotel is a delightful place, John, Ellen and ther staff know how to take care of their guests. The rooms are large and comfortable, the beach is private and well kept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food is FANTASTIC, some of the best I have ever had. John and Ellen know the area well and were very helpful in suggesting and coordinating tours and outings. I can't wait to go back!!!

Best Valentine's Day dinner in the world
By DONNA F, 05/16/09
We arrived in time for the most amazing Valentine's day banquet. It was a great start to a relaxed, fun week. Perfect blend of laid back and access to adventures. Ellen and John were gracious and made everything work. Our room was clean and the staff is friendly. We would definitely go back.

Belize at its best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/07
John and Ellen made this our best vacation. From coordinating fishing trips on a moments notice to serving the best food in the area, the red carpet was rolled out. We stayed at the Aqua Villa house. Kids enjoyed kayaking to their own private cay for an exceptional snorkeling experience. Home was well managed, pool immaculate and every morning the white sand was raked. The tour guide work with the Maya Beach staff and provide attention to every detail. Hope someday to return.

Planning our next visit.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/07
I chose the Maya Beach Hotel based on the ameneties and because I wanted someplace quiet to relax. It was everything I wanted and more. We could go on excursions and be amongst the crowds, then return to our little oasis of solitude for some rejuvenation. Ellen was great about customizing tours to suit us and we got to experience southern Belize "up close and personal". We didn't have a car at our disposal, but getting to Placencia village and back was no problem what with the buses, taxis and hotel staff running errands who are willing to haul guests to town. Before we left we were already planning our next vacation and it will definitely be at the Maya Beach Hotel. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for making our trip unforgettable! Toni Noah

An Awesome Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/07
The owners were very gracious and informative. Our meals were very tasty, too. Would definitely stay there again. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The employees were all very helpful and friendly. We felt very safe in this hotel. Would have liked a swimming pool, but this is hard to find in this particular area. Overall, we had a great experience.

Best food on the coast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/07
We rented a house on the beach north of the Maya Beach Hotel so only went there to eat-and continued to go back to eat. The best food and very reasonably priced-the Banana Boat Sandwich is a must and my husband said the Eggs Benedict were the best he'd ever had! Dinner was fabulous too. Service was fast friendly and very accomodating! Highly recommended.

What a Find!
By TaraG, 10/10/06
The Maya Beach Hotel is superb. Our week long visit was a dream, and the perfect way to start our honeymoon. The clean, well supplied rooms look onto the Caribbean, the staff are warm and friendly, and the food is by far the best you will find in Belize. Even the owners and cooks from the other resorts come to eat there! Every meal was a delight, and the cocktail bar is a great place to settle for the evening with other social guests, staff, and owners. John and Ellen have created a beautiful getaway and have mastered customer service. John and Ellen organised tours, booked flights, and made us feel extremely welcome. We still talk about the food we had there, and it’s almost been a year since our visit. We preferred the smaller, friendlier environment of the Maya Beach Hotel to the large resorts in the area. Even the owners and chefs at the other resorts in the area come to eat at the Maya Beach Hotel, and rave about it.

The best food in Central America
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/06
This place has the best food in Central America. Unfailingly nice staff, and they go the extra distance to please the guests, whether it is arranging for a guide for fishing of canoeing the rivers. Will go back.

Best dining in Placencia area
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/05
We only had dinner & breakfast here but it stands out as simply the best food in the area. The setting was perfect (we sat outside looking over the ocean) - the service was excellent, the wine selection was surprising & very well priced and the food was excellent. The extra thick pork chop really was that & the lobster was wonderful - not to mention the cheesy seafood bake we had to start. Then there was the made to order chocolate souffle for dessert. All this for an incredibly reasonable price. We wish we'd discovered it earlier in our stay as we'd have returned time & time again. Closed Mon & Tues though.

Absolutely Delightful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/05
The hospitality of John and Ellen was unmatched. The staff, very professional, fun and entertaining. The beach with a cabana on a pier, with hammocks and chairs, a lovely comfortable library/cozy couch area. 5 star gourmet food and drinks. I highly recommend for someone who likes small bed and breakfast type hotels. Ellen will arrange your activities if you like, and suggest fun things to do. They will pick you up and take you to the airport! Bring a book, learn about Belize, go kayaking, bike riding, river touring.... enjoy the peace and quiet, and the friendly staff!
