NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/10
This was the worst hotel I have ever lived in the pool was not clean 3 of 5 days we was there. The lights went out, our room a/c went out and keep freezing up through out the night. We was not given towels and washcloths and took the ones we had in the room when they cleaned up. They kicked our kids out of the room so that they can clean mind you the kids where 12,10,7, and 2 years old.n I would not refer this hotel to anyone.

I can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/09
My sister and I visited Freeport in last month (May 09) and had a great time. The Royal Islander accomadated us at a time when the area was going through a black out. The initial hotel we stayed was the Bell Channel Inn (would not recommend) and they did not have a back up generator. It was hot and very primative. However the management did help us find other accomadations (the Royal Islander Hotel) and we were quite pleased. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Freeport. As a matter of fact we are going back in Nov. 09 and will be staying at the Royal Islander. Much respect for the people and accomadations of this hotel. Ms. V of Washington, DC

worst vacation ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/06
This was by far the worst vacation ever! i found bugs in the bed of the hotel, light fixtures were broken in the room, rust was falling out of the bath tub. i couldn't even go into the pool because the collection of dead bugs that were not cleaned out for at least 3 days was disgusting. i would never return here again, nor would i reccomend it to any one. my travel agent lied to me about the rate of the room normally had i not of won this trip, and failed to tell me i would be in the "ghetto" of the Bahamas. it was absolutely terrible and i would never return.

Good for the money...
By JillianM, 5/20/05
My friend and I went to this hotel on a budget. We weren't expecting bells and whitsles, and were pleasantly surprised with the Royal Islander. The hotel itself is very clean and well kept. There is a pool and jaccuzzi area, and the grounds are well maintained. The pool area was virtually empty everyday - we actually spent a few days there instead of the beach! The staff was friendly, and the hotel definitely met and exceeded our expectations. The only complaint I have is that the hotel wasn't within walking distance of the beach or the night hot spots. However, there is a shuttle that runs every hour to the beach, and there is a bus stop right outside of the hotel that will take you to any of the best spots on the island for only $1. This is far better than the taxi service - which is a complete rip off on the island. As long as you don't mind a few (10 or less) minutes on the shuttle or bus, I definitely would recommend the Royal Islander.

Going back next year!!
By Erica, 5/19/05
My firends and I stayed fro a week at the Royal Islander. Uppon arriving at the hotel you are greeted by the friendly staff and by someone who will help you set up diffrent activites to do in Freeport. We took a 4 hour bus tour, went on a glass bottom boat, and snrokeling. All of which were worth the price. The pool and hot tub are so relaxing we visited them eveyday. The bar has great drinks and great prices. The hotel location is perfect. It's right accrass the street from the International Bazaar, a few blaocks away from food, and right next door is a club. If you want to go to the beach you can take the free bus to a small beach or pay $1 to go to other beaches. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We're going back next year, it was that good.

Cheap and NOT worth it!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/05
we made our reservations and paid for them at Christmas. It was our Christmas present to our family (10) people. I made three phone calls to be sure we would have rooms together and the right sleeping arrangements. When we arrived They had us spread out throughout the hotel and only had one room out of five with the right bed configuration. The staff made it very difficult to get the sleeping arrangements correct so we ended up sleeping the teenagers in one bed in two rooms. And we were told the problems with the rooms, such as running water, would be fixed as soon as we checked out. Isn't that accomadating? I would advise you to stay anywhere but this place
