2008 not as good as 2004
We stayed at the Inn at the Price Tower in September the year it was opened to guests, 2004?. It was perfect! Now, in June 2008. Some real disappointments! The copper pipes on the room furniture had corrosion. The carpet had stains that could be viewed from the bed, but not from the entrance to the room. The signs inside the elevators, indicating the Copper Restaurant floor had letters that needed repair. It appeared that the maintenance of a high class hotel was generally subpar. It would be nice to have a real ironing board in the room instead of a board with stubby metal legs and no pads to protect the desktop.
The Copper Restaurant food was very disappointing compared to the first time in 2004! The salad was literally “old”, very tired as if plated hours ago and sat on a counter. It looked like they had just bought “Spring” salad mix and poured it out on a plate. The steak had too much fat. The vegetables were well over cooked and unappealing. The Chicken Pasta, though tasty, grew to be very “heavy” and too much. Maybe they need to play music to help with ambience. If they did play music, I can’t remember now, just the deafening quiet and not comfortable to talk in a room that echo's. The bread and dessert were fine. In 2004, everything was perfect! Even gourmet in quality.
This year we had friends who went three weeks after we did and found the food to be EXACTLY the same!!!! No improvement, they were equally disappointed. The Poor Waitress!
Will we stay at the Inn again? Possibly, we just hope for a few corrections. This place has the potential to always be a First Class experience!
Oh, I wrote the General Manager and emailed him regarding this experience. Guess I won’t be hearing from him, as it is now weeks later.
