You must be kidding
We decided to spend a day and a night in Annapolis, just to get away from things for a while. The city of Annapolis is just lovely and the US Naval Academy tour was great. However, the Maryland Inn was a disater. The room itself was so cramped that the chair in the room actually was touching the mattress of the bed. Even if the chair had been usable for reading, there was no light, except for the ceiling, to read by. The entire room was on about a 20 degree slant, so that attempting to stand erect resulted in toppling backward. The bathroom was so small that if one person needed to get something while another was, say, brushing his teeth, the other person had to leave the room. The shower was completely enclosed, except for the entrance, and had no light of any sort. When you pulled the shower curtain over, you were showering in virtual darkness.
The two inadvertent jokes that were made by the owners were the ironing board and the room rates. If you wanted to use the ironing board, I guess you could put it on the bed, because there was no other place to use it. As for the room rates, they had a schedule for 3 and 4 people. As if they'd fit.
I understand the historical nature of the place, but really... The James Getty Hotel in Gettysburg, PA is also an historical hotel, but they've renovated perfectly. Perhaps the owners of the Maryland Inn should go there to see what could and should be done with an old property.
Avoid this place at all costs.
