John Ellick gives it two thumbs up!
By john, 6/28/11
My wife Jennifer and I enjoyed the history of the place, the old brick classic look, and a wonderful room. Centrally located off church circle, the Maryland Inn is a great place to stay in the historic district of Annapolis. Just several blocks from the Marina and on Main St. , shopping and pubs are all within walking distance. Two Thumbs Up!

Romantic

My fiance and I loved the Maryland Inn! The bed was wonderful and the room was very spacious. The building is obviously very old and it had such character - they have done a wonderful job renovating and still kept the historic feel. We had an awesome dinner and breakfast at the restaurant downstairs, A Treaty of Paris. The bar was quaint and the Starbuck's was in an old jazz club, in the basment. It is right in the heart of Annapolis, within walking distance of everything downtown. We will definitely be back, hopefully the exterior renovation will be finished soo!

we loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
Our room was huge, clean and just beautiful. Yes, the floor slants; yes, the building is old, but well rennovated, and yes, there are newer hotels with way more ammenities....but the historical charm and location make up for all of it. Everyone we encountered was helpful, the bed was perfect, the AC worked well, and the bathroom easily accomodated 2 people. LOVED IT! We will definitely be back.

I loved it!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/06
The Maryland in was built by my 6th Great Grandfather. Although I have only visited once when I was a child, I don´t think that it was a disaster. I am sorry that some of you did not enjoy your stay there. However,it is a very old building and maybe now it does need some fixing-up, but it should not be torn down!!! It is apart of my family history. When I visited there as I child I thought that it was great! I especially enjoyed the food they served (homestyle cooking)! Atleast that´s how it was when I went. I hope anyone who stays there, enjoys that time and appricates the historical value the Maryland Inn holds. Anyone who is thinking about staying there, should. And see for yourself. I think and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did when I was a child.

Tourist Trap
By Melissa, 8/24/05
It looks like a great place to stay in the heart of Historic Annapolis...that is where the "great" part ends. We booked our room with king size bed in the Governor Calvert House about 4 months in advance. When we arrived at the GCH, we were told we would be staying at the Maryland Inn, just about a 5 minute walk from the GCH. We arrived at the Maryland Inn to find our small, double bed room with no hot water, and an iron that didn't work. The room was dirty, the air conditioner did not work (it was 98 degrees that weekend), and the person at the front desk was unwilling to assist in any way. All in all, this place is a total tourist trap and a waste of money.

Lovely and Restful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
We enjoyed a delightful, relaxing stay at the Maryland Inn. Our suite had a spacious sitting room, high ceilings, a great view of the capital dome and St. Anne's, lovely four-poster bed, and well-equipped kitchenette. The Treaty of Paris restaurant served delicious dishes. Everything was within easy walking distance.

You must be kidding
By Jay J, 9/19/04
We decided to spend a day and a night in Annapolis, just to get away from things for a while. The city of Annapolis is just lovely and the US Naval Academy tour was great. However, the Maryland Inn was a disater. The room itself was so cramped that the chair in the room actually was touching the mattress of the bed. Even if the chair had been usable for reading, there was no light, except for the ceiling, to read by. The entire room was on about a 20 degree slant, so that attempting to stand erect resulted in toppling backward. The bathroom was so small that if one person needed to get something while another was, say, brushing his teeth, the other person had to leave the room. The shower was completely enclosed, except for the entrance, and had no light of any sort. When you pulled the shower curtain over, you were showering in virtual darkness.
The two inadvertent jokes that were made by the owners were the ironing board and the room rates. If you wanted to use the ironing board, I guess you could put it on the bed, because there was no other place to use it. As for the room rates, they had a schedule for 3 and 4 people. As if they'd fit.
I understand the historical nature of the place, but really... The James Getty Hotel in Gettysburg, PA is also an historical hotel, but they've renovated perfectly. Perhaps the owners of the Maryland Inn should go there to see what could and should be done with an old property.
Avoid this place at all costs.
