Royal Porto Real Resort & Spa, Playa del Carmen

My husband and I just came back from our honeymoon 4 days ago and man we did not want to come back. This place is amazing. The food, service, staff, activities, pool, beach was just great. I highly recommend this resort to everyone!!!! We're been to several other resort but we can not compare this one to any other..

We have done quite a bit of travelling, this is paradise for anyone looking to get spoiled ,pampered , eat to much ,drink to much and in general have the time of your life.

I loved the atmosphere. The staff was there to please. The food was pretty good. I would go back in a heart beat. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon and it was wonderful, we rarely left the resort. You have lots of restaurants to choose from, and the staff takes care of any excursions you want to do. I definitely recomend this resort.

We had a large group (38 people) for a wedding. Staff was Very gratias and helpful. Fantastic food, beach, pools and spa. Location is just a block from the market. Don't be discouraged by the "border style" shops in the 1st block, very nice from then on. Only complaint was refusal to seat our group. After the wedding, we did convince one of the hosts to slide some tables together. This was great. Most of the bartenders were very good with a couple that would ignore you if you hadn't tipped them. These were only a few and mostly at the swim up bar. Everyone else was exceptional. Don't forget the in-house shows every night. Great entertainment. The magician is GREAT fun.

i loved this resort and so did my husband. it was our dream vacation. the service, food and the atmosphere was gorgeous. i would love to go back soon.

The presentation of the food was good but as soon as you take a bite it reminds you of a cold microwave meal. The staff is not very friendly until you start tipping them. If you have a large group every restaurant was a pain to get seated in and their "best" restaurant did not even try to accommodate us. I would save my money and go some where else next time.

We did everything you were supposed to do: called the hotel to confirm, confirmed with Travelocity, even used the on-line check-in for the Royal itself. Despite all of this, as soon as we showed up they sent the manager out right away and informed us there were no rooms and then tried to send us to the Playacar Palace, which was an absolute step down! What’s worse, the manager himself conceded that the hotel had been overselling consistently for over a month and we witnessed *seven other groups after us* also get bumped! We argued with them for hours to no avail - and ended up at the Excellence Riviera Maya, which was nice, but is in the middle of nowhere and the average guest age was about 60. (Note: about half the people we met there had *also* been bumped from the Royal Play Del Carmen!). The Royal Playa Del Carmen is clearly running some type of scam! No matter how good it looks – I would NOT recommend booking your trip there. If you go directly through the hotel, you might have a better chance, but I still wouldn’t risk it.

My boyfriend and I spent seven days and seven nights at the Royal in Playa del Carmen. Everything was exceptional: the service, the staff, the hotel, the views, the beach, the pool, the water areobics instructors, the FOOD was simply the best! We would return again many times over! The Royal in Playa del Carmen was unforgettable! We especially liked the swing up, Tradewinds, and the Asian Restaurant, Asiana. Marie Maria's had lobster specials on Monday nights. All-inclusive is the way to go! I do not recommend paying extra for waverunners. The ocean was crystal, torquoise-colored and the temperature was perfect. Some ladies took of their tops for swimming and sunbathing. The Bahama Momma fruity concoctions were out of this world! If you can afford the best then the Royal in Playa del Carmen is the place for you! Marie Schwartz

This hotel is a great place for adults, no kids allowed. It's a great getaway for couples. The beds are wonderful and the choices of restaurants and food is amazing. I definatley recomend this place to anybody looking to go to playa del carmen.

My girlfriend and I went here on week's vacation and the place was great! The service was outstanding, the rooms even had an in-room hot tub. The food was really good and all of the restaurants had great variety. All in all, it's a clean and service oriented place that deserves a visit.
