Grounds and beach are beatifull, can't ask for better service, people is great, rooms a little small but used only a few hours at night, food is great and plenty, greta for family, 2 pools is great idea, bets for the price, location better than xcaret.

Honestly?
The food and rooms were good, the rooms are not air conditioned that well at all. They were not hot, just very humid. The service on the otherhand, it was okay during our stay, but when we left, my husband left behind two rings in the room and we're getting the run around from the staff. We have attempted to contact the Occidental Customer Care and all we get is a recording.....we've called the resort several times and have been hung up on and blocked. Needless to say, we won't go back to one of Occidental's properties.

Serious lack of security
By ,
We (myself, husband, two grandchildren) stayed at the Allego Playacar (12/9/09 - 12/15/09). We booked two adjoining rooms. The place was lacking in many areas (rooms smelled, little/no air conditioning, extremely small beach) but what concerned us most was the lack of security. On our second night, around 11:20 p.m., while I was sleeping with my grandaughter, a drunken man used his key card, entered our room, and started to argue "what are you doing in my room?" I screamed, tried to call security, and found out the phone did not work. The door between our rooms had swung shut, so my husband could not come to help. After I had called security (from his phone) I also discovered that neither of the rooms windows would lock (they could easily be slid open from the outside). I and my grandaughter were upset and frightened. We walked up to the lobby and requested that the locks be reset, and the windows locked. The night manager, Manuel, took care of our request, but the general attitude was that it was no big deal. No one else inquired as to what had happened. We stayed the week, but my grandaughter had a hard time sleeping. The phone in our room was never fixed. We should have doubled locked the doors (and certainly did thereafter) but with two kids running from room to room, this was overlooked. We travel quite often, and have stayed in many different hotels, and I have never had an experience quite like this.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
By ,
The rooms are small and VERY HOT. It was much cool outside than it was in our room. Don't bother upgrading, there is no such thing in this hotel-all the rooms are the same. The food was not all that great, nor were the drinks. We had a lizard in our room among other bugs and insects. We checked out the next day and the staff didn't even seem to care. This is not at all what we thought we were getting when we booked 6 nights.

More than i could of asked for
By ,
My vacation at the allegro playacar was amazing. The grounds and landscaping were beautiful. The pools were clean and very relaxing. The staff that controls the pool area are more then friendly; they made my trip and are very exciting, especialy stefano. The food was good and the hotel rooms its self were alright. However i would go back in a heart beat!!!

WE ARE GOING BACK!
By ,
We were there during summer of 2007, we loved it so much that were going back! We have an 19 and a 11 year old. They were so busy and occupied with events everyday that they didn't have time to be bored. In the beginning accommodations weren't what was promised, but other things like service and friendliness of waiters and the entertainment crew made up for everything. We would have liked to have one of the nice rooms that were promised to us when we bought the trial vacation plan, but then we were told they were damaged during the hurricane. We only blame the people who made these promises. We can't condemn everyone. We watch lot of tv at home, here we were so occupied, we didn't ever bother turning the tv on. We are going back next week and can't wait. We are hoping this will be another memorable visit.

We will never go back!
By ,
We stayed from Dec 29/08 to January 3/09. We were a party of 5. Two teenagers, an 85 year old grandma and ourselves. To begin the drama the accommodations weren't what was promised. The facility is decaying and has very poor maintenance. Rooms and bathrooms have mold, the furnishings are totally outdated. The equipment as TV and phones is also old and malfunctioning and the channel selection very limited. There is barely a beach front. Don't be fooled by the promo pictures: the beach is totally eroded. The pool and beach equipment is old and non functional. The beach towels (US$ 50.00 if you loose one) are decolorized rags. The food is well below average and the staff is not friendly or well trained, which is strange in Mexico. Dinner reservations were misplaced. It gives the impression that Occidental management is squeezing the last penny of and old rundown facility and is not treating or training personnel well. Since there is a lot of walking from the rooms to the restaurantes or shows, we had to fight for a wheel chair, the only one available there, for the 85 year's old grandmother. It's a pity that we had to spend New Years Eve there. We hope that after that disaster everything will be better during 2009. The only positive are the ocean views and leaving the place to never return again

Best time of my life.
By ,
The Allegro Playacar was simply an amazing Hotel. It wasn't extremely luxurious, but it was still very excellent. The rooms are very nice and the pool area is very exciting, with the swim up bar, activities going on, and staff interacting with all the guest. The Staff was BEST! I miss everyone one of them, they became friends to me. Manuel, Patty, Stefano, Franco, Giovanni, all of them i miss so much. They make you feel like that is your only home, and you dont want to go back. It was great. The disco is exciting too. The shows are great, the dancers are very talented and dedicated to their job. I think the best part of the shows were when the guests got to go up on stage and the entertainers who also work at the pool did lots of different things to them or they had to do the funniest things ever. Hilarious. It is a bit more for the Younger Adult and Adult crowd, but the little kids have their show earlier on. Ive been to the allegro in Cozumel, but i dont think it is as friendly as the one in Playacar. Its just simply amazing. Youll never forget your time there. Stop wasting your time anyway, GO THERE NOW!
