Not awful, but there were a few problems
Pro's:
*Beautifully decorated lobby and rooms. The lobby had one of those cool gas fireplaces with the glass rocks that the fire comes through.
*Staff was extremely helpful and friendly
*Breakfast bar looked delicious and they had made to order food, but there wasn't much fresh fruit. For that reason I didn't try it, but most people wouldn't mind that so I put this in the pro column.
*They had a "pantry" with toiletries and food items. I didn't buy anything so I don't know about pricing, but it had a good selection. Good if you don't want to leave the hotel.
*Several restaurants and a bar within walking distance.
*Easy to get to and convenient parking
*Very clean
*Nice bathrooms with granite countertops and adjustable showerheads. Good water pressure in the showers. Nice big hair dryers, not those little wimpy ones.
*comfortable matress
*wifi worked well and was easy to get onto, printers and computers in business center
*big screen tv's
*Nice temperature controls. If you set the temp higher than it is now, the heat would immediately kick on. If you set the temp lower, the air would kick on. Many hotels only have air or heat on at a time.
*Gorgeous pool, hot tub, and workout area. It was very clean. They had the treadmills and stairsteppers with the TV's on them. My only complaint was that the seats on the hot tub were scratchy and scratched your suit.
Con's:
*Sheets were the scratchiest I've ever slept on. This is the third HGI that I've stayed at and this is the first time I've had this problem. Maybe they're trying to save money with the economy the way it is, but they should have put laminate countertops in the bathrooms and gone with decent sheets. Admittedly I'm a linens snob, but my husband couldn't care less and he even mentioned how uncomfortable they were.
*When we booked the room online, it said our room would have adjustable beds. It didn't. I didn't complain though because they were comfortable enough as they were.
*There doesn't seem to be any soundproofing at all. We could hear everything going on in the hallway. When the housekeepers started their rounds we were woken up by what sounded like someone pounding on and slamming the doors. I'm sure they were probably just knocking normally and closing them normally, but it was loud enough that it woke us up and we couldn't get back to sleep. We had hoped to sleep in a little bit but the knocking and opening and closing of doors was really loud. There weren't any people on either side of us fortunately, but if there were, I imagine we would have heard everything going on in their rooms too.
*This may go along with the walls being thin, but whenever someone would open and close their door, it would shake our door. The first time I heard it I thought someone was trying our door handle or messing with out door. After it happened a couple times I figured out what it was and it was just annoying. Like every five minutes our door would rattle. I'm not an overly paranoid person, but there are a lot of people who are always worried that someone is going to break in and have to investigate every noise. If you're like that, avoid this place. It seriously sounds like someone is messing with your door every five minutes. Fortunately the hotel wasn't crazy busy, but if it was, I probably would have had a hard time sleeping with the door rattling all night.
*They have high def tv's, but not high def signal. The picture on most channels was really crappy. I don't personally care if it's high def, but it was like kind of blurry.
*There was a mistake on the directions on their website. It says to take exit 24, It's supposed to be exit 124. I will try to contact them to get it changed.
Overall not a bad stay. I've stayed at worse places But the door rattling, the noise from the housekeeping staff, and the scratchy sheets were really annoying. I would rather trade some of the pros for better sheets and better sound proofing. Not terrible, but I probably won't stay there again.
