Simply Splendid

Set in an active and interesting neighborhood, this hotel had character, comfort, and what can only be described as a good vibe. Most hotel rooms get less like home the longer you stay, but my experience at the Canal House was the opposite. The night we arrived we enjoyed some of the fine rums at the honor bar, walked around the Casco Viejo, and when we returned rather late at night (or maybe it was early in the morning) the staff brought up pitchers of water. The next morning, the in-house breakfast was perfect, and the managers there supplied logistical help for us to attend to our business in Panama City. We stayed three nights. Our final morning demanded a four AM departure. We woke up to another full breakfast and the car to take us to the airport was waiting outside. In short, the hotel is simple yet sophisticated, and I will always stay there when I visit Panama.
