i was taking my daughter to Dickinson State University, so this hotel was convenient.
rooms were clean, staff attentive, our reservations were exactly as i had made them on the best westerncom site. let us check in a bit early (2pm) it was quiet and restful.
Dickinson is the middle of an economic explostion due to the expansion of the oil industry. This has caused the oil companies to house their employees in the area hotels, thereby raising room rates to their posted maximuns. supply and demand.
plan to stay there again when daughter graduates.
We stay in a lot of nice hotels. We were charged the highest rate we've ever seen for any hotel room in all of ND. Higher than the best hotels in Fargo just because they can. The hotel is average for ND. Below average if compared to hotels in Fargo or Billings. Very small parking lot with only small signs identifying the hotel. Tiny pool. Heating and cooling didn't work in our room. Computer did not work in our room. Found trash in the dresser drawers while searching for pillows. No pillows available for the pullout in the room. No extra blankets in the hotel. Our reservation was for 4 people - our room had only three towels. Unable to get more via the front desk. Breakfast was nothing special - cereal, bagels, toast. The 'business center' was a single computer in the breakfast nook. All in all this hotel was not worth even half of what they charged. Beyond overpriced.
My reservations were cancelled before I arrived. We were charged on our credit card for the cancelled room. The customers waiting to check in were experiencing errors in their reservations, too. Very unprofessional staff. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone!
We stayed at the Best Western on our way west. I called a couple of times to see if another room had opened up. The response was always less than friendly. I even apologized for bothering them. When we arrived, the gal at the desk was snotty and obviously didn't want to be there. The first room we were assigned had someone elses belongings in it. When we went back to the desk and explained the situation to the second gal at the desk, she told us to wait for the gal who had checked us in; she was outside visiting with people. When she did come to help us, the attitude was cocky, the "opps, sorry" of someone who knew they'd messed up. It took about 5 minutes of beeping the computer to solve the problem. Rather than help, the second girl just kept looking at me with a painful, apologetic expression on her face. When I got home, I discovered that my visa card had been charged twice for the the room, and the charges weren't even the same.
On returning home, we again stayed in Dickinson. We found the Comfort Inn to be wonderful.
The rooms where very nice. Everything about the place was great BUT the Breakfast was mostly gone before 9am. No orange juice, no eggs, no rolls. The lady was walking around and cleaning but was not restocking anything. People complained but yet nothing seemed to be done about it. My family got breakfast but yet several others did not. I will stay again because of the nice rooms.
A beautiful hotel that needs some attention to detail. I booked a room with a whirlpool but was given one without. I let them know & they did switch me to a whirlpool room--albeit with some grouchy remarks. The whirlpool had a bad ring around the tub....yuck! The computer in the room did not work. Very noisy night without much sleeping.
