Myrtlewood Villas, Myrtle Beach

When we checked in for our vacation "deal" we were told we had the VIP package. We would be staying at Myrtlewood Villas. We we told normal check in is at 4PM. Since we had VIP status, they would et us in earlier. All we had to do was check in at their property office and leave a contact number. We did this at 11AM. We checked back at 2PM. The staff was rude and told us they would call when the room was ready. It was after 4PM when they finall contacted us. We received our key cards and directions to the building from the office. Again, they were not very pleasent. We get all our luggage out and go up to the room. To our surprise, the door has an actual key lock and won't take the key card. We contact the office and they seemed put out by the call. They said they would send maintenance over to assist us. When maintenance arrived, they told us the office had sent us to the wrong building. He said the office had been doing that a lot lately. When we finally got to the correct room, the carpet was filthy from dirt and stains, the blinds in the master bedroom were broken and only hanging by one side, the A/C return was caked with dust, and their were dirty dishes in the cabinets. We stopped by the office on our way out to let them know. Again, they seemed like we were bothering them. They said they would sen maintenance over and they would try to get in touch with housekeeping. When we returned to the room later that evening, there was a note from maintenance that the blinds had been replaced. Nothing had been done about the carpet (bad enough that we would not walk on it without shoes), A/C return, or dirty dishes. When we went to bed that night, we found that the beds (made up to look like full size) were actually 2 twins pushed together. The matresses were lumpy and uncomfortable. We will never stay nor recommed Myrtlewood Villas to anyone!

We had a great winter mini vacation and the kids loved the new indoor pool center. Saving to go back!

I recommend staying here if you have a large group. We stayed in a 3 bedroom with a sleeper sofa. My villa was clean and stocked with amenities. The pictures are true to the villa I stayed in. The kids enjoyed the pool.

This place is a totally crap shoot because you MAY get lucky and get a nice condo but the odds are against you. Our son's entire baseball team stayed there for the Ripken tournament. Almost everyone had a major issue with their room. Among the issues were: no air conditioning, broken frig, broken stove, broken washer, broken pull out couch, extremely dirty carpets and bedding, beds that were rock hard, bugs in their room, and the list goes on and on. Some of the families moved multiple times in attempt to find a room that was acceptable. The staff seemed like they really didn't care and things were left broken for days. The line at check-in was really, really long. Be prepared to wait for an hour or more (out in the sun and/or rain) before you can get to your room. Most of the residences that lived there seemed generally annoyed that the condos were being rented. Some of them would patrol the grounds to make sure no one was breaking the rules. One of the residents there threatened to have us kicked out because we food at the pool. They would not allow the kids to play any kind of ball game (frisbee, baseball, football, etc.) any where at any time. All in all a bad place to stay. We talked to many other families from the Ripken tournament and the vast majority had a similar experience.

My sons baseball team stayed at this dump because we were referred to it by the Cal Ripken Tournament. The check in line was out the door into the parking lot. Outrageous! The rooms were not ready until late in the evening. Roaches running amock! After the maids were done "cleaning" WE had to clean everything correctly. Wiped the entire place down and washed all the bed sheets and comforters. In one of our rooms the maids left the garbage from the previous renters outside the door. The garbage sat there for about 4-5 days before somebody picked it up. Did I mention the roaches?! We ran out of toilet paper and had to go buy some because we couldn't get anyone to answer the front desk phone. The gas grills were out of propane and we waited and waited and waited for somebody to bring out another tank but they never showed up. We had to go around to other grills on the property and swap the empty tank for one that had gas. The staff was rude and insensitive. This is definitely not a hotel but it is sold to prospective renters as a hotel. The old man night security guard kept harassing us and actually swore and said racially insulting words to one of our coaches. We complained to David Crawford, who is some sort of manager for this place, and he actually said he didn't care about any of our concerns/complaints and that the Myrtlewood did not need the Cal Ripken business. Needless to say we were told to stay in our rooms after 10pm and to be quiet. This is ridiculous especially being on vacation. If this is some sort of "Senior" living community (that's what it seemed like), then why does Myrtlewood rent rooms to baseball teams that are mostly made up of 14 year old and younger boys and their families? It's ridiculous! Yeah they want our money right away and then they expect us to be mindless idiots and put up with their abuse, insults and unprofessionalism. I wouldn't stay here again even if it was free!

Some of the owners do not keep up ther places.Huge waterbugs crawl over the bed.Dead ones under the bed.The Check in is about a 45min wait that is horrible.If you like Golf and quietness this is the place to go. If you like to be atleast walking distant to a beach don't go.If you are going with a group even though you ask to be together it seems as though you are miles apart.I would not recommend this if you have kids who are active or you are relying on someone else for transportation everything is close this is true but to far to walk.I love quietness but this is a little to quiet and boring for me.

My family and I went to Myrtle beach this year in 2007 for our vacation. Everyone was pleased with the villas. My husband fell in love with it. We were all so amazed. Greast location, great service, very clean, fun. We are planning to come back again in another two years because we love Myrtle beach so much; we already know where we are going to stay. Thank you Myrtlewood villas!!!

When I walked into our room I could not believe it. It really was a home away from home! I went down with my husband, 3 kids and my mom & dad, and we all had plenty of room. TVs in every bedroom, that kept the kids entertained when we were wanting some down-time. The room was very clean. I will stay here again!!!!

What I like about the place is that it is clean. It is well-kept and it was like being at home away from home. It's near broadway at the beach where there is lots to do for the entire family. We had a great time and I can't wait to go back!
