Holiday Inn Temple Of Heaven, Beijing

My rating for the previous review were wrong. Service 10/10 Cleanliness 8/10 Location 10/10 very central Value 10/10 Super service from staff - very new the Pearl Market which was great. Lovely breakfast included in our price.

I like the service, the breakfast, the rooms were clean. don't like the fact that there is not much to do or walk sightseeing at nigth near the hotel

I waited a month to write this review, to cool down and consider my thoughts first. I hope nobody else has been ripped off as I and my co-travelers were. If you stay at this hotel, you will find clean rooms and mediocre food. The location is very convenient. If it had stayed at that, I'd have been delighted. However, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EXCHANGE MONEY AT THIS HOTEL if you stay there. I and seven others were given counterfeit 100RMB notes when we exchanged dollars. When we discovered this, the hotel manager and his boss both blamed us. We contacted the police, who did a brief investigation and agreed with us, and told the hotel to give us the proper cash. The hotel refused. The police then, to our dismay, did very little. We left the city later that day, so had no chance to follow up. Worse still, Holiday Inn and the Intercontinental Hotels Group did nothing for us. Forget rectifying the hundreds of dollars of theft. They refused even to take action against that hotel or even to look into it, saying that what hotels do regarding currency exchange has nothing to do with them. This was said to me on the phone. I then wrote to the company online and via mail, and have not even received the courtesy of acknowledgement. Very interesting. Personally, I will avoid all hotels that are part of IHG in the future just for this policy. But my main purpose here is to caution people against the Temple of Heaven hotel in particular, and if you do stay there, to use a legitimate bank to convert your currency, do not use the front desk at the hotel!

We found the Holiday Inn to be centrally located. The rooms were comfortable. The breakfasts enjoyable. While the staff struggled with English generally there was always someone who could help. We had a group of students - some became ill over the weekend and the hotel staff did all that they could to help us in our situation. Very close to Pearl Market - about 10 minutes - between 10 and 30 RMB depending on the traffic.

Like everything about this hotel except for the location, a little far from the city (15mins by taxi). But worth everything for such a new, clean and well-serviced hotel in an old city.

Slightly more adventurous than most tourist hotels in Beijing. In an up and coming neighborhood, we were able to point and order at restauraunts and shop in the local stores without difficulty-the "Chinese hot pot" restauraunt by the hotel was very helpful-but very HOT!!. The only problem was with the concierge desks' knowledge of English-they only knew very basic English. Temple of Heaven park is fantastic! The hotel is good for the price.

Amazing value, I've spent nearly the same amount on better located hotels, but they were complete dives. This hotel is definitely up to decent western standards. Most of the staff speak pretty good english and will go out of their way to make sure that things are good for you. One of the concierges spent 30 mins just trying to find out the exact location of a distant company I had to visit. As mentioned by others, the location isn't amazing and expect to spend about 20 RMB depending on traffic to get to the square/forbidden city.

I did some on-line research before I booked the hotel, with all those good reviews it was such a disappointment for me. I stayed only 2 nights and I changed my room-only 4 times. (I only asked for non-smoking: 3 times I had for smoking with a smell so bad that it was hard to stay in the room.) , asking just a simply questions: to check if my flight isn’t delayed or to confirm my flight…it took 3 to 5 concierges and after 30 minutes I just did on my own in 30 seconds. I also would not recommend anyone to walk there… I also stayed in Crown Plaza- WUZHOU great, clean, safe place … pls don’t worry about $30 more. It’s a heaven better!

I recently stayed here during a tour of Beijing. This new hotel still sparkles and is well-appointed. The location admittedly isn't that great (in the Fengtai District with lots of tenements nearby) but it's near the Temple of Heaven. The many in-room amenities such as free broadband internet access and the soothing, contemporary decor more than make up for the location and the somewhat small rooms. Overall, far superior to what you would expect from a Holiday Inn.
