A triumph of appearances over reality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/7/11
The positive reviews of this hotel were, in my opinion, almost certainly composed by people whose interests are best served by good reviews. The fact is, this place is a mediocre hotel at best, and prone to lengthy power cuts, indifferent staff attitudes, etc. The counter staff run a low-rent racket pimping girls - 10000 CFA to allow one of them upstairs; prices are high for everything and the rooms are very ordinary - that is unless you're an admirer of colonel gaddafi's taste in architecture, because this place is very decidedly imported, in terms of taste at least, direct from Tripoli... Which is not to say that it is all bad. The food is reasonable, and the bar adequate. But...the place is miles from town, accessed via a traffic-choked highway that when the wrong people have finally woken up to the opportunity will be the car- jacking/kidnapping centre of the town. It's overpriced and too often is the seminar location of choice of government ministers who bring with them their AK 47-toting goons....all in all, not a great experience. My advice and recommendation as one who has stayed in all the hotels in NDJ? The Novotel - for no other reason but that the pool and gardens are a real pleasure, and the beer is always cold. Good luck.

Best buy in town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/20/07
This is by far the best place in town. DO NOT attempt to stay at either the Meridien or Novotel - these places are run down and not worth the money! Kempinski is by far the best - Opened Dec '05, everhybrand new and up to western standards. CLEAN! Local staff every friendly and you cannot expect western service. But better friendly from the heart with a smile! Located next to the Parliament and Supreme Court - fortunately 7 min's away from the dusty, crowded and noisy downtown district. Free WiFi in the Lobby area. Good value for money!

# 1 in N'Djamena
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/06
With no doubt this is the # 1 hotel in Chad! They do though still need to improve their selection of TV channels. To few English channels. The service is very good but the prices are little high (but that is for all hotels in Chad). The restaurant has very good food (maybe a little bit to small meny) and the breakfast is very good as well.
