Very relaxing, food is exceptional!
By ,
I love the staff, they were totally wonderful! Laundry delivered clean and folded by 11:00 after morning drop off. The food is exceptionally good. Subtle flavors and fresh vegetables. I had stewed chicken and chicken burito. The continental breakfast stayed with me for hours and was breads and fruit. Banana bread, wheat toast,

Pretty Satisfied
By ,
We just returned from staying a full week at the Banana Beach Resort, from June 4th to June 11th. The hotel overall was very beautiful, and although the beach was very small, it was only a short walk to find a nice place to enter the ocean. The free breakfast from the travel package was much better than we anticipated. They gave you several fresh cooked breakfasts each day to chose from. The staff was nice and helpful, except the front desk. They wouldn't print our airline tickets to leave, and directed us to the gift shop where luckily they printed them for us. Our family also called to make sure we arrived and they told them they had no record of our names staying in the resort, which caused quite a bit of panic back home. The location is good, if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk into town whenever you need to purchase items, eat, etc. A nice little suprise was Timmy's Fast Food, a little chinese food shack across the street, which was cheap and freshly prepared... you just have to ignore the flies. Overall we would stay in this resort again, the time we picked was supposed to be the slow season so luckily there were very few other vacationers staying in the resort and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The pools are nice and clean and the room was sufficient. One suggestion we would give is to explore all of San Pedro. If you want to book activities, don't go through the hotel, you will find much better deals from people along the beach and in town. The El Divino restaurant in the resort was more expensive than most places but the food was pretty good. You can eat much cheaper in town. One final tip, if you're planning on running into town just to buy one or two things, and it's very hot like it was when we were there: The taxi will cost you $10 US for a round trip and usually is slow and lacking air conditioning, while a golf cart is $15 US for an hour and much much more fun! All in all it was the best vacation we ever took and we would definitely stay at Banana Beach Resort the next time we return to San Pedro. If you go make sure you check out cave tubing, mayan ruins, and shark ray alley!

It was OK....
By ,
Just got back... This was our first time down there. If I had to do it over, I would stay closer to town. The beach is mostly wishful thinking at Banana Beach. The ocean view from most rooms is just a small slice. Since it is the slow season, they were replacing wood decking around the pool. The hammers and saws made an afternoon siesta a problem. Why can't they put an ice bucket in the room? Strange... We borrowed a pitcher from the restaurant, but this was a needless hassle. The restaurant is way way overpriced. We did much better eating off the premises. We were warned to not walk the beach at night by one of the locals.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant breakfast was great it was free. The other two meals that we had at the hotel restaurant were expensive and just all right. We prefered the street vendors in town. It is about a half hour walk into town. Wouldn't recommend walking back at night. We were warned of walking on the beach at night. taxi is $5 US one way back to hotel. Rooms were all right. they could use abit of cleaning. But for the price it wasn't bad.

Rip Off Place
By ,
I would like to post this regarding Banana hotel to make people aware of how they run there business. I recently visited and stayed at Banana from 8/3 - 8/6. I had a golf cart that was rented from cholos and on 8/4 I had filled the tank up(55.00bz dollars). Around 7:30pm I parked the golf cart across from Banana in there parking lot that was suppesly patrolled by security. On 8/5 we left the room around 9:00 am and while traveling down the road the golf cart broke down. When cholos arrived to fixed the cart it was found that all the gas I had just put in less then 24hours ago was siphoned out. I had to pay cholos for another full tank of gas(55.00bz dollars). Since this happen on Banana property I was not comfortable to park in the lot again for my remaining time there. Therefor, I checked out and advised them as to why. I was told to return at 9:00am the next day to speak to management. When I returned the next day, the hotel refused to let me speak to the management and refused to give me there name. Instead they said I had to speak to the head of security. (Mr. Lopez). I was highly upset about this since I feel he is not the manager of the hotel and sine the hotel pays him, I feel I should have had the right to speak to the hotel manager and then the hotel manager could have dealt with him. Anyway's, I showed them the report from cholos showing the gas tank was not leaking the hotel refused to reimburse me for the extra gas I had to pay. There reason was, "this has never happen before therefor we will not be doing anything about it". After I got what I felt was not an acceptable reason I started to investigated for myself on this hotel and speaking to a lot of locals who informed me that Mr. Lopez runs a crooket security business and he allows the locals to pay him and his security staff to turn there backs while they siphoned gas out of golf carts. In fact this is not the first time it has happen and I was informed that people have complained to the hotel in the past. Visitors should be aware to watch out and not park there golf cart in Banana's parking lot. Also, this hotel is not the best. It is a low rated hotel. At least the time I was there, there was a lot of rowdy local people from belize city staying there and made noise all night long. I would not recommend this hotel at all. I have been to Belize on 4 other occasions and stayed at other hotels and had the best of time. This is the first time I had stayed here and the last. Banana management does not care about there paying guess.

Not what they advertize.
By ,
While attachtive in appearance and photogenic it is not truely a beach resort. There is no beach on the property, rather the beach is in front of the adjoining resort, a short walk. The seawalled oceanfront patio is overcrowded and tense as the security staff stands guard over it and so you in an otherwise peaceful and safe Island where security is of little concern. The meal plans are a poor value compared to other options. The staff seemed willing to be helpful but are confined by the hotel's policies in a way that prevented them from giving me sincere advice. Instead they seemed required to tell you what the management has told them to say to keep you on the what they refer to as the compound. In a developed area it is not isolated tranquility, just an inconvienent location, but they attempt to sell the experience as being remote. It rings hollow. It is a prefectly fine for inexperienced travelers expecting bargain priced cruise ship "hospitality", but Banana Beach lacks the open honest friendliness that is the real attachtion of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

'One of the Most Beautiful Places in Belize
By ,
There is nothing to dislike about Banana Bank. It's gorgeous! This resort is probably one of the most beautiful places in Belize. It is located in a jungle type area on a river. The owners are fantastic people and have spent years making Banana Bank one of the prettiest and most enjoyable resorts available. I like it!!!
