Pretty Satisfied
We just returned from staying a full week at the Banana Beach Resort, from June 4th to June 11th. The hotel overall was very beautiful, and although the beach was very small, it was only a short walk to find a nice place to enter the ocean. The free breakfast from the travel package was much better than we anticipated. They gave you several fresh cooked breakfasts each day to chose from. The staff was nice and helpful, except the front desk. They wouldn't print our airline tickets to leave, and directed us to the gift shop where luckily they printed them for us. Our family also called to make sure we arrived and they told them they had no record of our names staying in the resort, which caused quite a bit of panic back home. The location is good, if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk into town whenever you need to purchase items, eat, etc. A nice little suprise was Timmy's Fast Food, a little chinese food shack across the street, which was cheap and freshly prepared... you just have to ignore the flies. Overall we would stay in this resort again, the time we picked was supposed to be the slow season so luckily there were very few other vacationers staying in the resort and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The pools are nice and clean and the room was sufficient. One suggestion we would give is to explore all of San Pedro. If you want to book activities, don't go through the hotel, you will find much better deals from people along the beach and in town. The El Divino restaurant in the resort was more expensive than most places but the food was pretty good. You can eat much cheaper in town. One final tip, if you're planning on running into town just to buy one or two things, and it's very hot like it was when we were there: The taxi will cost you $10 US for a round trip and usually is slow and lacking air conditioning, while a golf cart is $15 US for an hour and much much more fun! All in all it was the best vacation we ever took and we would definitely stay at Banana Beach Resort the next time we return to San Pedro. If you go make sure you check out cave tubing, mayan ruins, and shark ray alley!
