almost Gilligan's island for real
We went on our Honeymoon and this all really happened!!!
The bathroom came with a group-sized hot tub (non functioning) that had been painted several times and all of the paint layers were peeling off. The hot tub was also the shower, which meant you had to climb over the side of the spa to reach the shower controls on the wall to bathe. The controls of the shower came off in my hands and I had to repair it as best I could since nobody ever answered our call for service and the valve could not be shut off.
The bathroom sink also was not mounted to the countertop and it and the faucet moved as you tried to use it.
The island ferries in fresh water and rations the use of the plumbing. They actually only turn the water on 3 times a day for about an hour or so.
We were honeymooning and no one informed us or any of the other guests of this policy berore arrival to the island. Imagine you are with your new spose and you can't wash up after feeling amorous. Or, worse yet, you have to say "Not now honey, there's no water".
The wait staff were great and the shows were very entertaining but we felt like we were trapped with no phones or anywhere else to go.
If you choose to go knowing, and prepared for, all this it can be fun.
I don't recommend a stay of more than one day since you can do everything there is to do there in that amount of time. Besides, you'll want to bathe after a day anyway.
My wife, who is from Colombia, booked the trip thinking it would be very nice but she was embarrased at the facility as a whole.
