Bad place for the money!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/09
For the price that you pay for this Hotel, you better be prepared, if you stay on a Saturday night, to be woken up at 5 am by the people setting up outside for the Sunday morning market. They were so loud and obnoxious. I really couldn't believe that we paid what we did and didn't have a restful nights sleep. When brought to the front desks attention, they didn't respond and pretty much said "bummer". That is what made it the worst....bad place for the money!!!!!

Nice Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/16/09
My husband and I have stayed at the Elliott several times and each time we are glad we made the choice. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always clean, and it's right in the middle of downtown so you can walk to several places. The previous reviewer complained just as much about the restaurant across the street (which I also don't recommend) but it had nothing to do with the hotel stay. We also appreciate the dog friendly suites. With cute food bowls and treats which are offered for our pups. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates a clean, inviting, comfortable hotel stay.

Avoid The Elliott
By Jim, 02/14/09
We booked a valentines weekend stay in a spa suite to hopefully spend some quality time together. This suite is way over priced for what you get. The reservationist did provide complimentary champagne and fake silk rose petals in the room, but everything else is not what is advertised for the price. The suites are small, the beds are not even top of the line Beutyrest. The jacuzzi tub is a safety hazard unless you are 7 ft. tall, my wife in the tub trying to get in and I have a rather large bruise myself. I am 6 ft tall. What came out of the jets when turned on can only be decribed as brackish sludge. Pretty gross to sat the least. They recommend their restaurant the Schooner across the street for dinner. Also over priced. Seafood pasta is not fresh, wine list is terrible. Pasta is over cooked and prawns and scallops were not thawed properly, still frozen in the middle. We rarely complain, we just never go back, but this hotel is no where near the value they charge. People need to stay away!

Bed Bugs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/08
It is a very nice boutique. Very Comfortable beds but I think they got bed bugs. My legs have broken into a rash and are itchy. I have stayed there before and no problems but not this time...

My favorite hotel
By Jen, 03/27/08
Hotel Elliott is probably my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at. Their rooms are amazing, with super comfortable beds and spacious jet tubs. They have a great bar/cigar room downstairs and the service has been impeccable every time I've stayed there. It's been a romantic getaway for my partner and me the past 3 years and I'm sure that tradition will continue.

BEDBUGS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/07
Rude snobbish staff, tiny rooms and bugs! I wouldn't let my dogs sleep in a room that small or dirty. Terrible value for the money charged. I do dislike staff that feel they are doing you a favor by checking you in.

Didn't want to leave
By AmandaD, 06/18/07
As a surprise for my birthday my boyfriend took me here. We were ready to move into our little apartment like room. The bathroom was large, and super warm shower and warmed tile floors. The beds were heaven, I had to go home and buy a feather bed and pillows. The room had a great view of the tower and the pictures hanging in the room matched what you saw out the windows. Very well done on remodel, just wished it wasn't so expensive to return, a must for any romatic trip!

Great location, comfortable, good value!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/07
The beds at the Hotel Elliot are the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. If you think a bed is just a bed, think again! Otherwise the room was small but elegantly appointed, complete with heated floors in the bathroom. The rooftop deck gives you a wonderful view of the river and downtown Astoria, while the underground wine bar and smoke room are gorgeous and cozy. The location couldn't be better: downtown Astoria is a charming old fishing town where you can easily find an assortment of northwest wines, beers, and of course seafood, with the Hotel Elliot at the heart of it all. There is also a very nice Saturday market just outside the hotel during the summer. All in all this was a wonderful place to visit.

I hate this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/05
I reserved a luxury suite to get away for a quiet romantic evening with my wife. When I arrived at the Elliot the street was closed and a loud rock band was blasting music from a stage outside a hotel. At the desk they informed me that theis was the town's Octoberfest and it would run until 10PM. When I asked why I was not told about this when I reserved the room, they just shrugged. I was also told that I had to park two blocks away because the farmer's market would occupy the street in front of the hotel and the closest parking lot to the hotel the following day. The "suite" turned out to be a cramped room with badly worn 1970's furniture. The "fireplace" turned out to be a miniscule gas space heater in the wall that never worked during our stay. The bed was good and they did have a nice jacuzzi in the bathroom but the bed was wedged into a tiny spot that left no room for a night stand on one side. The following morning at 5AM loud noises woke us up to discover diesel pickups and pipe frame tenst being assembled for the farmer's market. The staff made no attempt to do anything for us despite strong complaints. Lewis and Clark had a lousy time in Astoria and some things never change. The final straw was the $27.50 local room tax we had to pay on top of the premium price for our fireplace suite.
