We stayed here for the 3rd time on July 5th through July 9th. The cabins are always very clean. The AC is noisy when it shuts on and off. We were in a different cabin this time around and the top bunk was very creaky and would make a lot of noise every time my son would turn over in his sleep.
However, my big complaint is with the owner and the pricing. I called on May 25th and spoke with the owner and made my reservation. I was sent an email confirmation that I was booked for July 5th through the 9th with a checkout time of 11AM on Saturday, July 9th. The email showed a balance due of $273.14.
When we arrived on July 5th, I paid the $273.14 balance and we went to our cabin. About 15 minutes later, the employee who checked us in came to the cabin and asked if we were checking out on Friday because the rate we were charged was for 3 nights. I told her that I was booked for 4 nights and showed her the confirmation email on my phone. She said okay and left the cabin. I did not hear anything else from the resort and assumed the matter was resolved.
When I went to check out on Saturday am, the owner was in the office. She told me that I had stayed for 4 nights and only paid for 3 so I needed to pay the balance. I pointed out to her that I had paid the amount on the email confirmation and she said that was for only 3 nights and that there had been a computer glitch. She was rather rude about it. She said she was willing to charge me $59 for the last night instead of $79 due to the inconvenience. There was no apology or any explanation as to why she didn't notify me of the problem prior to my checking out. I reminded her that this was our 3rd stay at her business and told her I was very disappointed that I could not rely on the confirmation email she sent me. I also told her I would have to consider this when deciding whether we would stay there again. Her only comment was that was understood. I don't feel that I owed the additional charges given the rate quoted to me in the email but I paid them because it was not worth a long drawn out ordeal to me. We will NOT stay there again and I can't recommend it to anyone. There are lots of other affordable options in the Rockport area.
