Real Desert Americana...Step back 75 years to a time when villages were simple and safe, conversation was an art and entertainment was gazing at stars in a perfectly dark sky. Cynthia's is a base from which to explore an untouched wild American desert: winter weather perfect for hiking and summer nights perfect for stargazing or full moon hikes. Sometimes Cynthia's is a quiet place to relax, contemplate and connect or it can be bustling with fellow travelers. Located in the Amargosa - just one valley over from Death Valley - it is similar in all aspects just more accessible by foot. Seventy miles from Las Vegas - it is its opposite.Cynthias is one inn with 2 locations. The 13-bed hostel and three well-appointed guest rooms are in the old mining town of Tecopa. The comfortably furnished Indian-style tipis are located at the spectacular nearby desert oasis of China Ranch. Its a destination for those who can set aside their electronics and explore the Mojave Desert byways, far from crowds and Interstate highways. Cynthias offers adventures and discoveries for the Eco-Traveler, whether youre interested in birding, hiking, soaking in the nearby hot springs, stargazing or sitting by a campfire. Tecopa is rich in history and full of offbeat character. The rough-hewn charm of the desert transports you to another world, where the sand has a magical way of restoring the soul, sending you home refreshed and renewed.
It's filthy, NO locks on reserved rooms - leaving it wide open for people to sleep in your room and pay "hostel" price. Bed and Breakfast is how she advertises but you have to drive 8 miles to get your breakfast. Don't know bout you but that's NOT MY definition of Bed & Breakfast! Lied about crediting the credit card deposit and we ended up paying more for the room than originally quoted. Quiet? Yes because you are in the middle of the Hills Have Eyes Country - if I'd have seen it during daylight I would have turned right around and went to the Amargosa Hotel instead only 7 miles away! They lied when we checked out and said they were giving us a discount for our unhappiness only to later claim it was the deposit return that was supposed to put back on a credit card. Do yourself a favor and don't buy all these false "great" reviews of this PIT. I wouldn't make my worst enemy stay in this dump. I'm 44 years old and have travelled all over the country as well as Europe and have YET to stay in a WORSE place than this - and that includes little bed and breakfast places all over Germany, France, Holland and England! Please avoid this place at all costs. They lie and steal.
Death Valley National Park is three million acres of stone wilderness, which includes sand dunes, snow capped mountains, multicolored rock
layers, water fluted canyons, and the Timbisha Shoshone.
