Residence Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Virginia Beach

First - the yahoo photo and description is not of the Marriott Residence Inn Oceanfront Virginia Beach. So, please access the facility at their direct website. We stayed a week with our two greyhounds and had a fantastic visit. The Residence Inn accepts pets and is totally smoke free. The facility is clean clean clean! Staff is very accomodating. The breakfast (included) has a wide selection - hot/cold cereal, waffles, muffins, rolls, bagels, toast, eggs, potatoes, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices. The location is very nice - at the north end of the beach which tends to be a bit quieter. We will definitely return to this facility with or without our greyhounds.

I've stayed at the HILTON and the Residence Inn. The photos attached to the Residence Inn Marriott on this website are deceiving because the rooftop pool shots are of the Hilton not the Marriott!!

THIS WAS THE BEST VACATION THAT WE EVER HAD. THE HOTEL AND THE BEACH WAS CLEAN, ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED THERE WERE BOTH FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND THE BEDS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE. ALSO, THE VIEW FROM THE BALCONY WAS SPECTACULAR. BE SURE TO GET UP EARLY ENOUGH TO WATCH THE SUNRISE. THE FREE BREAKFAST THAT THEY OFFERED WAS DELICIOUS. IF YOU COULDN'T FIND SOMETHING THERE THAT YOU LIKED, IT WAS YOUR FAULT...I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. ALSO, IN THE EVENING THEY WOULD HAVE SNACKS. ONE NIGHT THEY HAD A BARBEQUE WITH HAMBURGS, HOTDOGS, POTATO SALAD, BEANS AND ALL OF THE TOPPINGS. FOR AS NICE AS THIS PLACE WAS, NO ONE WAS SNOTTY OR RUDE. WE STAYED AT A RESIDENCE INN AT HILTON HEAD IN 2001-THAT WAS GREAT, BUT THIS WAS BETTER. YOU WON'T GO HUNGRY HERE. (BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE RESTAURANTS ACROSS THE STREET...VERY PRICEY.) I CALLED RECENTLY TO THANK THEM FOR EVERYTHING...I WANT TO LIVE THERE!

we stay (July 4) for one week at the executive level, everything was great, nothing much to say, the only thing is that the only bar and restaurant around the beach is the Catch31 for the price and style is really good, but too much waitress walking and talking and do nothing, the place is empty and u have to wait 30 minutes for a table..and too slow the service too slow but everything is great!! Beware with this local restaurant Captain George's Seafood we got ripppp offf!!! for less we got best food at the Catch31

I was a little reticent about staying at this hotel after reading reviews on various travel websites. However, by booking on-line through the hotel and by pre-paying, our room was approximately $170/night (including taxes) which in my mind made it worth taking a chance on. We arrived on a Sunday evening at approximately 7p after a long day of driving and found the doorman to be friendly and helpful with our bags. I was pleased to find that I had a choice of either valet parking ($8/day) or self-parking (free) at a garage across the street that was connected to the hotel by a skybridge. The hotel lobby was spacious and tastefully decorated. The check-in was fast and efficient. Our room was on the club level (19th floor) and even though it wasn't an oceanview room, it was at the southwest corner, and we could look south down the beach and west towards the sunset. The room was wonderfully sunny throughout the day. The room size was fine for my wife and me, with an appropriately-sized closet, a full 6-dresser drawer, a wonderfully big, glassed-in, dual-head shower. There was a comfortable desk and chair with free internet. I appreciated the additional security of key-card access for the club level. I particularly enjoyed having access to the club lounge on the 20th floor where they had a continental breakfast daily (fruit, yogurt, bagels, pastries), Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea. There were free papers (NY Times, WSJ, Washington Post) in the club lounge. You'd get the local paper + USA Today at your door. For someone like me who doesn't eat a huge breakfast, this was a nice way to save time and money. The club lounge opens at 6:30a so if you're an early riser, your coffee is close at hand. Other features that I enjoyed were the Bose alarmclock/CD player, the 42-inch flat-screen TV, and a decent coffeemaker in the room with fairly good coffee. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were of good quality. Checkout was equally quick. We had a mistaken charge for 1 night of valet parking that was reversed without question. There were no hidden or "gotcha" charges. All in all, the stay exceeded my expectations and I can honestly say that on return trips I'd stay there in a heartbeat (although during high season, I don't think that I'd be willing to pay more than $250/night). It's altogether possible that my positive review was influenced by the fact that I only paid $170/night and got a fine bargain.

Because of my off peak stay here I perhaps cannot offer true and accurate opinions of the hotel. I have read most of the reviews and can see an underlying theme...PRICE. I agree the price is steep and probably not the best value on the beach (I paid double the going rate on the strip). I will say my room was clean and the hotel does have a slight NYC or Las Vegas feel (although its very small). The bar is nice but the food is pricey in the restaurant. I paid $9.25/ea for a mixed drink and $4.75 for a beer. The fitness center is small and the pool is VERY small. All this being said I did enjoy my stay here and would likely return. Perhaps my opinion would change if it were during peak season.

I have been a Hilton Honors Cardholder for many years. It's a beautiful hotel staffed with mainly inexperience young people who obviously don't care about the guests. The food at this hotel is not only awful, but outrageously priced. I think that charging $25 for a hamburger is pretty greedy. I will never stay at this hotel again and will let my business associates know that this hotel is not accomodating for business travelers. The hotel is almost empty during the week;, I can't imagine what the service will be like in-season.

We stayed here for a conference, so our $300/night room was a mere $170. Even at that number, it was terribly overpriced. Much of the staff was too busy flirting with each other (or the guests) to be useful as staff. The restaurant was especially useless. It's only feature is that it is on the beach/next to the park, which is a nice location. The food is not bad, if it were served in a timely fashion. Heck, just getting bread takes an act of god. And prepare to be nickled-and-dimed to death. No special treatment in the way of beach towels/ umbrellas is offered either, so you'll be trucking all that stuff back and forth to the beach. Or perhaps you prefer the chilly pool up top with overpriced drinks. Oh yeah, the overpriced drinks. Prepare for 6-7 bucks for a glass of wine that costs $5/bottle when you buy it by the case. The internet connection is a pain-in-the-butt too. You are constantly being thrown off the network, and have to call the desk for yet another password. The thought that your login/password combo might last for more than 6 hours is a huge intellectual leap for these clowns. Bottom line, it might be a nice $100/night hotel. Anything more is just not worth it.

This was our second stay at this property. Hands down it is the nicest property on the beach. However, service is just awful. In other words, great hardware, no software. The rooftop pool is nice but way too small for this property. The front desk staff, well, they don't seem to care that you are staying there and paying top dollar. They actually told us over Memorial Day Weekend (our stay) that they overbooked the rooms. One desk clerk told us our requested room was not available and the next desk clerk said it was. The elevators are slow and not enough of them. Service in the restaurant is non-existent. If you can ignore the service, you'll have a fine time. It's really a pity they built this wonderful hotel and the management has not figured out the service STINKS. They also employ employees in the bar that act more like bouncers tending to spreak breakers then providing service to customers.

the best part of the hotel is the roof top bar / pool. i would recomend of a night out or a day trip. the only problem is that you have to have a room to get to the top. try the service stairs. they say it works to get up
