Had a great room and the view outside was spectacular! THe desk made us feel welcome and we talked to them everytime we left the hotel. Only thing i would suggest is booking this at SweetHotelDeals. N e t
The a/c in the first room we tried didn't work and with 109 deg weather it just wasn't an acceptable problem - the second room's a/c worked but the room smelled like urine, the third room and fourth room a/c didn't work as well as it should and the rooms had a bad smell. We booked our trip as a package deal and couldn't cancel the motel portion so we pretty much decided to just deal with it - if we could have we would have moved to the Hampton. We bought a fan that helped keep the room cool.
I chose this motel because the ratings seemed good and it was a few dollars cheaper than The Hampton but you get breakfast at The Hampton so you get a better value there. I thought the breakfast was included with the room but it is not. There is a restaurant downstairs and the quality of the food was not great - better to eat at Hodel's. Bakersfield was an enjoyable place to visit just will not stay here again. One last item on the plus side for this motel is that they have comfortable beds.
The hotel was pretty good. The only complaint that I have is the slightly loud A/C unit in the room. Other than that, the bed was great. The restrooms were amply supplied.
If you are a gold member, you get free breakfast.
There is a costco near by and other eating areas.
The only thing I could say that might be negative would be, it was a little hard to find the area where the hotels were located. The hotel itself was very good. The whole stay was very, very nice. From the moment we checked in to when we checked out. Everyone was extremly helpful, from how to find a restaurant that evening to the next morning's breakfast. They not only offered thier restaurant for Sat. brunch, but also told us about neighboring restaurants. The staff was welcomeing and all smiles. They made our stay well worth the drive. My daughters LOVED the beds.
This was my first time staying in Bakersfield although I've been here before. The hotel location is very close to the main highways so it's easy to get anywhere in town. The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I only ate breakfast here and the food was freshly made as ordered -- instead of pre-made eggs at a steam table. The free internet access is a plus. Also, you can open the window (although only a couple inches) but to me that is also a plus. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone needing to stay in Bakersfield.
Great, friendly service, with one blemish: the lobby breakfast is excellent but the standards for what you get (continental, full, or ala carte) are not clear. And one of the food service workers was rude beyond belief.
During our week stay, we kept very politely asking what the a la carte prices were, since there was no posted or distributed menu.
I guess no one ever asks these questions, and the food service employee in charge literally and publically exploded at my wife in front of other customers! I've never seen anything like it! Over a measly disagreement over whether we had 4 bowls of oatmeal or 5! We were willing to pay whatever we should have; we just wanted some accuracy. My wife asked this server to simply come to our table and verify the amount, but instead the hotel employee blew up and humiliated my wife (in reality, the employee humiliated herself, and the manager had to come apologize).
It left an ugly blemish on an otherwise great experience.
The room was very nice. Pool was great! Kids loved it. It was open till 11:00, which was great when you don't get back to the hotel till 8:00 or so. The rate was good. The location was pretty close to my dad's house. I'll stay here again.
