Nice beach, but does anyone speach a word of english?
By ,
The only thing I enjoyed at all was the beautiful beach, beyond that, nothing. The food was terrible, the rooms and the grounds are dated, and the service was no where near world class.Almost all of their staff didn't speak english, sad.I bought a golf package, wasnot worth it,the worst golf course I played in Connecticut was better than their course.I would never go back.

Worst experience in my life.
By ,
A shortened version of what i sent them: In order for us not to have to write a book, I will summary as possible the agony we went thought at your resort: 1) Two of the nine guest were told that their room was on the left side of the resort; when it fact it was on the right side. One of these guests has a walking disability and had swollen legs after she walked around the whole resort like a monkey in a circus. 2) Some of the rooms had no remote control, others had no towels. Some had the fruit platter, some didn’t. One room had an apple with mold and the cup to wash your mouth when brushing your teeth had a “crust” that looked that it had at least three whole weeks without being washed. I have pictures to prove this as well. 3) In one room it took two attempts to get the towels for the two other guests. In a room specifically, room 4208, after three attempts; it saddens me to report that I am STILL waiting for your glorious towels. 4) The A/C was not working on any of the rooms. In addition, when we received the rooms, the A/C was off and it felt like a Sauna. It didn’t cool until the third day. We are used to hot weather, but it was never out intention to pay to die from a heat stroke. On top of that, whenever the cleaning personal cleaned the room they would turn off the A/C. 5) The reservation process for the restaurant was extremely disorganized. The reps didn’t make any effort to speed up the process. People will come in and skip as they pleased. 6) At the Strikers bar and Restaurant the service was mediocre. One employee specifically stood out. His name was Martin, he always wore a blue shirt with a blue cap. He is the rudest individual we have ever encountered in our life. This is a summary of some of the atrocities that he committed: a. Four of the nine guests sat down and informed him that five more were coming. When the other five get there, he tells them: “you shouldn’t have sat here, they already ordered” b. We ordered nine pina colada with liquor and he brought them without liquor, twice! c. The five of us who came after the original four called Martin to order food and he ignored them multiple times and put up his hand almost in our face like saying: “hold it because I am too busy for you” d. We ordered six brownies with ice cream. When I asked him about the ice cream. He said very cynically and sarcastically: “maybe yes, maybe no, we will see if it brings ice cream” i. Another employee delivered the brownies and to our surprise it had no ice cream. She advised us that he specifically said no ice cream. 7) When we finally got the remote control in one of the room; the guy knocked on the door and lifted his finger in the air as to signal to hold. He was on the phone and after five minutes, when he finished his conversation which seemed to be more important than us, the paying customers, he handed over the infamous remote control. It seems that we were a bother to his conversation and that he gets paid to talk on the phone. Servicing customers is secondary. This “phone” behavior was a recurring trend in your resort. 8) In the “Miramar” buffet, the lady in the front was extremely rude. We attempted to take some food out because we had a sick five year old and she rudely stopped us as if we were criminals. She told us that: “you can’t take the food out”. We were astonished, after having stayed at over 6 all inclusive; we have never been limited at to how, when, or where we eat the food that we pay for. She then called a manager who was a rude as they come. He said that: “you can’t take the food out, so you better eat it here”. He continued by saying: “if you want food outside then you have to order room service”. Something that we clearly didn’t want to do since room service had a charge. That manager finished by saying very sarcastically: “well what do you want me to do, take it to your room?” After begging him, he agreed to do that, unfortunately, the food got to our room 22 counted minutes after.

Worst trip I have ever had
By ,
My wife and I spent our honeymoon there and just returned last wednesday. This was the worst trip ever. We both have foo poisining, so bad that we've been put on antibiotics. We stayed at the "Delux" junior sweet and it was awful. The room was infested with roaches an bugs I've never seen in my life. It was damp an musty smelling, the bad linens were damp the whole time. Something must have been leaking cause every morning the floor was soaked. None of the staff spoke english. Always tured to speak spanish to you. No custimer service, they could care less about you. No signage anywhere, you have no clue where to go or what to do. Took us 3 days to discover there was a train that took you around the resort, it had casino written all over it so we assumed it was only to take you to the casino. We could not get out of there fast enough. The beach is beautiful, thats about it. No drinks are served on the beech, anything else you want to do will cost you an arm an a leg. 100 bucks a head to o any of the tours, boating activities etc.. Don't waste your money on this , you'll regret it.

Nice Setting, terrible resort
By ,
The beach was beautiful..... thats is about it. If you dont speak spanish, you will be treated like dirt. Service is horrible unless you are not American, in which case, you will be treated better. To those who complain that us Americans are whining about the resort, you can keep it all to yourselves. The place was filled with annoying Euro trash. The only nice thing was the beach, it was beautiful. Our group rented a catamaran two days just to get away from the disgusting resort. Use the BEBE boat, staff was great. Hotel staff went out of there way to be ruse to Americans, but the Euro trash was treated fine. The food was the worst i have ever tasted, had to leave the resort to eat at Hard Rock Cafe. We also got the pleasure of watching some Euro trash engage in sexual activities on the beach in front of children...... still want to complain about us Americans? All i can say is that the beach and the water were something off of a postcard, but I would never ever go back there and I do not recommend it for anyone other than EURO TRASH

Can't wait to never go back
By ,
I really don't know what to say except for sweaty meats and cheeses. 10 of us went as a reuinion of sorts. We conviened the reunion in the restrooms. 7 of us got physically ill with intestinal and stomach issues. 3 of us got a course of antibiotics when we got home. The food was terrible and caused the above ailments. The rooms were a joke even at the "premium" resort, with unfriendly staff at best (to americans at least). On the positive side, the golf course was nice and the snokeling is just off the beach and is spectacular. The beaches are the most beatiful I have seen in the carribean. Too bad I was trying not to throw up most of my time on the beach. I almost forgot that the steakhouse has a cow that moos occasionally during your meal. Nuff said.

DO NOT STAY AT BARCELO BAVARO PALACE DELUXE!
By ,
From poor customer service, to delays in checking in and out of the hotel, to incredible apathy on the part of some staff as well as their lack of speaking and comprehending English - your stay at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe could be a hassle and a huge disappointment, to say the least. The sheer grandeur and the architecture of the hotel complex makes a great impression at first. However it becomes painfully obvious right away that looks are deceiving. Delays at checking in. Many staff seem to not understand the meaning of "good customer service" at all. They expect to be tipped all the time, yet they do not deliver quality service. Bellboys who wreak (no joke) of cheap alcohol as they take your suitcases to your room. One gift shop owner refused to accept credit card for payments because "their credit card machine does not work." The sameness and bland taste of the buffet food becomes almost unbearable after two days. The local "five star" restaurants that do not even deserve a one-star rating are also part of the problem. Please think twice (and read other reviews) before going there. Your dream vacation or honeymoon can easily turn into a nightmare, or a sequence of huge disappointments and frustrations.

We LOVED the setting BUT......
By ,
The setting was wonderful BUT, the people that work their HATE, HATE!!! Americans!! Therefore the service was awful!!!!! So slow soooooooooooooooooooo slow!!! (and we're NOT PreMadonnas) I would order coffee and get a cold cup of milk AND cold blk stuff to pour into it!!! it was awful!!!!I finally learned to order coffee the night before if I wanted it hot and on time for breakfast. the over all service industry is terrible on this resort. I explored the different places. the people are just not happy or friendly (except for Jaun, A waiter.)People off the resort are a littlt nicer cause they want your moeny, but not much. We went on a jet ski cruise, they had to drive us off and away from our resort cause of a death or two, they have banned jett skiing off the hotel shore;Awyway, They picked us up with a van, drive us off a distance to no mans land, old broke down hotel or old time share. The beach was so dirty and their were seringes on it(used ones) yeah!!! It was scarry!!!! not to mention, they jett skii was so old, it had a stering wheel instead of handle bars;AND it was a conoy trip?!!!!! Hello?!!!! we live on the ocean @home and race jett ski.............As u can imagine.........WE WERE INDIssma!!!!! We travel all over and have NEVER SEEN THIS!!! HENCE, Life is good, we LOVE Aruba now, LOVE, RENAISSASE ARUBA BEACH RESORT AND CASINO(TIME SHARE AND HOTEL) I did love this place, but to weeks of cold food, cold humans and no water sports worth talking about on shore was/is not worth the return........... Horrible Food, Hotel but the beach was awesome!
By ,
It seems this resort only care about the appearance on the outside of the hotel. Our Room, Junior Suite, was horrible. It was like staying in a box - they didn't have towels in the room, the safe didn't work, and when you call the front desk for service... forget it...rude and will not take care of your needs in a timely manner. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, AND HORRIBLE!!!! We had reservations at the Japanese, Italian, seafood restaurant and it was horrible!!!! The food had NO flavor, cold and each one of the A la Carte taste the same (horrible). We also ate at the buffet...horrible as well. The beach was nice, exercise room and the swimming pool were nice too... but we will never do another Barcelo or all inclusive again- BTW.. I read the reviews on this hotel before I decided to try it but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and the price was better than others in the area... I truly am gonna use reviews as a decision from now on. SAVE YOUR MONEY - PAY EXTRA TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Never Again!
By ,
I can sum this trip in two words, "Consumer Beware". The all-inclusive is on their own time. If you don't eat by 11:00 p.m. you might as well starve. You go to a hole and they serve you greasy hamburgers after being touched with their bare, uncleaned hands next to a nightclub full of drunken teenagers. Their Flea Market is a negotiating warfare. The hotel is more a two-star than five. Their tiles are slippery and a liability, at least three people got hurt and ended up paying fees of $350 and up for the care. Their pool tiles are broken in several areas, not kept. Their hairdryers are a thing of the '50s. And don't forget the antibiotic for the kids, it's a guaranteed ear infection. The Chirino concert is not a concert but a dance floor. If you're going to go, don't bother getting there early for a seat, it does you no good, you've just wasted two hours of your time. And eat and drink before, as the all-inclusive does not cover the drinks and food while at the concer. Heck, they do not even have food at the concert. Their excursions are priced as an incentive, "Because of this, we'll cut the price in half". This offer is made to everyone, nothing special about it. And if they are cancelled by the hotel, do not expect to get your money back without a fight. To wrap up, it was a waste of time and money. This is one place I would never go back to. Oh, and I forgot, every employee has a kid you'r kid's age that they have to feed. Horrendous!!!!
