Country Inn and Suites By Carlson St. Augustine Downtown Historic District, St Augustine

My experience with Country Inn & Suites has been good until this stay. The hotel is very old, run down. They "remodeled"it by painting the doors and walls, which must have been done by a cheap labor teen. It certainly was not a professional job. The room I stayed in was dirty. The hvac system emitted a horrible musty smell. Mildew stained the ceiling. The carpet was badly worn. And the funiture was falling apart. The entrance door to the room was not level or plum, which made the door hard to open. I left early the next morning, not staying for the "free" breakfast. I was glad to get out of there. I stop down the road at McDonalds and ate. I complained to the front desk clerk. Her insincere apology made the stay seem even worse. I will not be staying there again. I might not stay with Country Inn & Suites ever again.

The room had a urine and musty odor. The bed linens smelled like sweat. We called the front desk to ask for service and the person at the front desk could not help as they stated they were the only one in the hotel at the time. I would not stay here.

Staff where very helpful & nice. The room was clean Breakfast good . Well worth the price. Will recommend it to all my freinds.

NOTHING. Room was full of mold, toilet hardly flushed, shower was either scalding hot or hardly on if you didn't want to burn yourself. Had to dry out our luggage when we got home since the room was so musty. After staying 3 nights, we had sore throats and congestion from sleeping with the mold. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER.

An average hotel. While not overly clean (the room) or overly NICE, I was most suprised at check in (for the 4th of July) that the hotels going rate was cheaper than I had paid by booking through Yahoo :( That reason along with the hotel itself made me feel like I had been Duped. Secondly, the hotel is UPTOWN, so it is a few miles NORTH of the Downtown area. If you are planning on a walking trip once you arrive (as we were), be prepared to walk quite a distance. This hotel is at the northernmost stop of the Ripleys train, so if you are planning on spending the money and waiting for the train, this might work for you. The staff were friendly and courteous. The pool outside is the size of a standard pool home, so if there are more than a few people it is very crowded, and it is also in a gated area directly on the street. Strange considered the parking area is at the rear of the hotel. We had the opportunity to extend our vacation, however, due to the inconvenience of the hotels location, we spent our last day driving into downtown where we paid for parking, and then left from there.

Although it was close to the tour trolley, we thought it would be closer to more things to do. The breakfast was so, so. Served same things both days we were there. Also, hope your toilet doesn't get plugged up. We were travelling with friends and theirs did. The person at the front desk handed him a plunger to unplug it himself. Not pleasant at all.

It is a good hotel. Very clean, comfortable rooms. The best feature is that is very accesible to the main attractions, practically walking distance to the tour train and others interest points. The continental breakfast is just OK, not a bad idea to be improved.

The hotel was very clean and in excelent condition.The staff very friendly.It is very closely located to the downtown area and the new parking garage.

Would not hesitate to recommend this clean hotel. Comfortable environment and the service was excellent. Located next to the Red Train Office. Easy trip to the sites.
