Riu Montego Bay Hotel All-Inclusive, Montego Bay

I used my credit and debit cards at the hotel's gift shop and to purchase tours at the hotel (RIU Montego Bay), now my bank calls me because alsmot $2500 U.S. dollars are being charged in Jamaica a day after I leave the resort. Now, the only times that I use the cards were inside the hotel and one of the cards stayed in my room and was never used. NOW RIU MONETGO BAY IS SAYING THAT IS NOT THEIR FAULT! do not trust them and use your money somewhere else!!!! .

The food was excellent!! Entertainment was great!!!The service was horrilbe!!! I felt like I was sleeping on the floor that's how hard the mattresses are they need to upgrade their mattress no telling how old they are and the the keys are the kind of keys that you get at the gas station when you use their bathroom and they only give you one. Get key cards no one uses keys!!! Had a great time at Dunn's River Falls!!

The resort is beautifully laid out and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. The food in the buffet is very good , but beware of the specialty restaurants, the food there is very marginal. Also, if you are planning a tour to the Black River, don't believe them when they say that the trip is only one and one half hours away. It took us between two and two and one half hours over the worst roads that I have ever traveled. If you have a bad back-forget it! If you are looking for evening peace and quiet, this is not the place to be. Lots of loud music until late night. The water at the swimming area is not good for swimming, maybe wading due to the weedy bottom. Check out Dunns River Falls if you can. It's worth the trip!

i like that it was all inclusive what i didn't like was the staff were a little rude at times the food was mediocre and the bed had bugs in them so please please please check your bed before you sleep

We went to Jamaica for a friends 30th bday, and had a blast. The staff was AMAZING. So helpful and friendly. the resort was beauitful. RIU Entertainment crew was Great, the nights they performed was amazing. and they even pick people out of the crowd to do their good bye dance. JUST AWESOME PLACE TO STAY WHILE ON VACATION. We are planning another trip as we speak. Riu will be the ONLY place I stay when I visit Montego Bay.

We just came back from Jamaica and it was one of the best vacations I have ever had. When I read the bad reviews I'm not sure if they stayed at this place. Our room was clean, and in fact they only have ONE smoking section and its outdoors so the smoke doesn't bother you at all. We were not "harassed" at all. The locals are very friendly people if you respectfully say no they just walk away. The resort itself was amazing, tons to do, everyone goes out of their way to help. The entertainment was great every night and they interacted with the crowd which is always a plus. I would definitely refer anyone to RIU Montego Bay! thanks guys for a wonderful vacation!

I will be going back to Riu Montego Bay on 16th June for one week. This will be my 4th time there in 3 years, I first went there in 2008 (3 months after they first opened) and then I went there again in October 2009 and again in May 2010. Firstly I will start with the bad points (the reception staff were all very young, inexperienced and I wouldn't say "rude" but just very shy and quiet (hence this could appear to some people as being rude). The accommodation is very nice, the rooms are cleaned daily and it is all very comfortable and the air conditioning is amazingly cool which is great as it's always so hot outside. The rooms can smell a little musty (they always have done as the room I first stayed in on my first visit had never been occupied previously), the rooms still smell the same, almost as if they are newly plastered and painted. They are spotlessly clean and the towels, soaps, shampoo's etc are all replaced on a daily basis. The food was lovely, well I thought so anyway and I am generally a very fussy eater. It could get a little repetitive at times but it was always lovely and freshly cooked, the fruit was always beautifully fresh and everything was clean and prepared to a very high standard. The pool area is gorgeous however, there are the odd loud mouthed larger louts there, which you will get anywhere you go but they sound fade out when they realize that people don't appreciate their pathetic "I AM" attitude. The drinks, well I drank quite a lot, but never got tipsy so it's possible the drinks may have been watered down. However!!!!! I did on one occasion as advised by another guest to ask for Smirnoff Vodka instead of allowing them to pour their local vodka - 3 or 4 of them and I felt a little light headed and went back on the fruit juices. Also, if you go to the beach party, fill an empty coke bottle with the spirits from your mini bar and take with you as the drinks are so strong on the beach party in tiny little plastic throw-away cups that you'll have bleeding livers for a week. Anyway, I must say, I have travelled to many places, including the Maldives (which is always my first choice of holiday) but Riu Montego Bay is most definately my second choice of holiday anywhere in the world and I am sure that although this is my 4th visit, I will no doubt be re-visiting this hotel for many, many years to come.

First of all 2weeks in Paradise, There was no needs or wants as it was all there. I stayed at he RIU in montego bay and the place was beautiful and the staff where the best, I felt safe and very welcomed by all. The rooms where to perfection, clean, fresh towels, soaps etc and fully stocked with drinks, could not drink it all, wished I could though. It was not the best beach that Jamaica had to offer but for a small price there are some beautiful sandy beaches a small drive away. Though there is every selection of food and it was well cooked, I am of caribbean background and need a little more flavour in my food but other than that I enjoyed it all. The services in all the restaurants were so lovely, always came over to ask if needed anything from water to coffee, friendly on a few occasions I dined alone and I never once felt alone and were sure to make me feel comfortable. I have never felt more safe with there security team, they were always around. started to recognise them, they were seen that often. I miss it so much I went back 6 months later and will be back in a few months. It is a lovely place for couples and families but not for singles though the night life out of the RIU, you can find yourself a fantastic time.

I've stayed at both the Riu in Ocho Rios and just returned from the Riu in Montego Bay. Both were great, but I have to go with Montego Bay. The property seems smaller, so it doesn't take 20 minutes to go back to your room to grab your sunglasses. You DO hear planes once in a while, but I felt it was a fair trade to be less than 15 minutes from the airport. Ocho Rios is another hour and a half away. That's THREE extra hours of vacation! And who doesn't love a purple castle?

It wasn't all bad. The food was good. and so was the entertainment. The room looked beautiful but the bed was a real nightmare. It was just nasty so, check it out. I mean strip it down before you sleep in it and have a good time.
