Went for a quick getaway Sept 22-29th and had a great relaxing time. The property is spotless and everyone went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. With dozens of restaurants literally starting 50ft out the door we decided not to go all inclusive. That is why we only chose the room and breakfast option.
I reserved transportation, (Entertainment-plus net - $65.00usd round trip) walked out terminal door and a USA rep met us and we got into van and arrived at the Ultramar ferry dock at Gran Puerto Juarez to Isla Mujeres in about 20 minutes. Ferry tickets over to Isla Mujeres were not included, purchase them for $17.50usd RT in the what looks like a gift shop. We caught a cab at the ferry dock for $4.00usd to the hotel because it was raining. We could have walked because Aluxes is only 4-5 blocks away. (Note: Ferry ride is about 30 min. load to unload . It runs on every half hour.) Departure: The USA van was there waiting for us and zipped us to the airport.
Were greeted at the door with a sparking glass of wine at 10:30 pm and were checked right in.
Originally I had booked a Superior room with the hot tub on the terrace. Room (111) was very nice with but was too low and had only a view of the pool. Decided to upgrade and got a Suite Deluxe (133 a couple of floors up) that had a great view of ocean and pool. Suite had a huge living room and bathroom with a whirlpool tub, but not one on the terrace. That was ok. Room was spotless every day when we returned. You can even request different types of pillows if you want a harder or softer one.
Restaurants and Bars:
(Choose the room and breakfast option)Breakfast buffet had a large selection of fruits, breads, the usual hot foods with a couple of local options. Always got a made to order omelet or fried eggs. Around 2:00 would wander down the main street along the beach and have lunch at one of the many places available on the beach and watch the boats come and go. Did have lunch at the Aluxes’s beach restaurant one day. It was very good.
Seemed to have a great swim up bar. Everyone was having a good time. The beach had waiters that would come around every few minutes to ensure you had anything you wanted.
At night we would usually get around about 9:00pm and wander out to eat at one of the dozens of places. Usually would cruise the menus until one sounded good and that is where we would stop. By the end of the week we still had not even looked at the menus of the dozens of places (Heard good reviews from people on the resorts food)
The grounds were immaculate!! Pools were spotless clean and had wood decking all around instead of concrete which added to the beauty and was much better to walk on. Had 3 large whirlpools, one by the pool and two secluded behind the massage and workout buildings.
Nice long and deep beach, walk out 150 ft. and still be in sand.
Met a lot of people from all over the world which was an unexpected plus!!
We dove with Squalo Adventures for 3 days and could not have asked for better service. Slow easy dives at all depths. Wrecks turtles, eel, lobster and tons of fish every dive. Laid back, no hurry diving.
Will be back again soon.
I have stayed all over Mexico and the Caribbean (from 6 star to 1 star properties) and have to say this was one of the nicest properties I have stayed. This is NOT Cancun!! Laid back slower pace, no crowds, congestion, pushy people, etc. More like Cancun used to be in 1984.
My new wife and I chose to spend our Honeymoon at Privilege Aluxes and felt like it was an awesomely perfect choice..!! Between three resturants and poolside buffett, where to eat was better decided by the flip of a coin... Everything was great, food was presented as artwork...the detail was very impressive...
The layout of the penthouse suite was great... there are regular rooms, rooms with Jacuzzi’s, the Grand Platinum Suite with a private pool and the Presidential Suite with private pool... Wow... We went with the Grand Platinum Suite and was thoroughly impressed… Living room with balcony, Master bdrm w/balcony two bathrooms with walk around showers… One was upstairs close to the rooftop patio where the private pool was located… Very nice..!!! We can’t say enough and we are planning on going back..!!
Thank you Privilege Aluxes for the VIP treatment…
The food was amazing, non-stop flowing drinks, quiet resort. Wish there was some type of after-dinner entertainment. Although, they did have a different band each night at the beach restaurant. Will definitely make a return visit.
Blue waters surround you in every direction. Sugar white sands reflect the warm sun. Gentle trade winds rustle through palms.
