A perfectly charming stay
I was passing through Granada for a few days in late March and wanted to try Hotel Con Corazon, one of the most recent hotels to be opened there (late on last year). I'm so glad I did - this is a fantastic hotel. My room was comfortable, impeccably clean, and with all the mod cons you need (private bathroom, hot water, fan) and even some I didn't bother with (air con, TV, laundry service). The decor of the rooms and the patios is pure rustic charm. Apparently the wooden tables and chairs are made by a local craftsman from wood salvaged from the renovation of the old colonial building. Breakfast is also included - tea or coffee, juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, eggs, bread and jam - served out in the front patio around the small garden.
In between sightseeing (you're only a couple of blocks from the main square and the cathedral) and a trip to the pretty town of Catarina, I chilled out in one of the hammocks in the back patio, wrote far too many emails (there's also free wifi) and cooled off in the small swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and helped me with whatever I needed - even if it was just someone to practise my Spanish with! They organised a taxi to come and meet me at Managua airport (a good idea if, like me, you're arriving with luggage at night). In fact, it's the small touches that make me recommend this hotel so highly - the free water refills, the cute photos and pictures in frames above your bed, the super-friendly staff...
All in all Hotel Con Corazon is about the best value hotel I've found in Granada - which is astonishing when you find out that actually it's a not-for-profit hotel (with all monies going to local charitable activities). So you can enjoy your stay here AND feel good about it too!
