I was recently unfortunate enough to choose this place to stay while working in the area for about a month. I usually try to stay at extended stay hotels because I like to cook my own food. This was without a doubt the worst extended stay I have been to. It seemed like it would be ok while checking in, only to later find out the smiles I received from the lady behind the counter were phony. I told them my intention was to stay atleast a month and I would be working nightshift. My rent was due on Sunday morning but the office did not open until 8:00 a.m. and I got off work at 6:00 a.m. Every Sunday without fail these inconsiderate people would send someone to wake me up in the middle of the day to ask me if I was going to stay or check-out? I repeatedly told the lady that I was staying for a month only to be woke up again every week. I think they were renting the room beside my by the hour or something for all the strange noises coming from there. Any request or complaint I had fell on deaf ears as the management ignored me completely. Kitchen was useless unless you brought your own cooking utensils. It never ceases to amaze me how much these places don't care about how they treat the people that are PAYING them to stay at their hotels. Customer service is a thing of the past I guess. I could probably continue to write about how TERRIBLE my experience was with this place but I think you understand. I WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN!!!!! GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE TO!

We stayed at the Sun Suites in July of 08' and were very pleased. The room and bath were clean. The bed was comfortable and the people in the office were very helpful and friendly. We will be going back next summer.

DIDNOT GET ROOM UNTIL AFTER 3:OO PM -WAS AWAKEN 4 OUT OF5 MORNINGS BETWEEN 3:30AM AND 5:30AM BY TRASH TRUCK DUMPING DUMPSTERS BANGING SO HARD IT SET OFF OUR CAR ALARM. WAS A VERY UNPLESANT STAY WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN

We were having electrical problems in our home so we had to stay the night at a hotel since the problem would not get fixed till next day. We chose Sun Suites behined Cracker Barrel because it was close to the highway so that we could quickly get to where we needed to be in the morning. When we first got into our room there was a big roach on the wall. and roaches on the stove. There were no cooking utinsels as advertised. There was no towels in the bathroom, no toiletries. We were very tired so we decided to just go to bed. When I turned the covers down there was a strange bug in the bed so I shook off the sheets. When we woke in the morning I noticed my children had gotten bit by someting. When I went in to take them a shower to get them ready for school the shower faucet fell off. So I had to take them a bath in the sink and my self a sponge bath. When I let the desk clerk know about this she did not even apologize she just said oh ok. The room was small and dirty. I would not recomend this motel to any one.

The only thing good was the price and around 12 midnight the price didn't even constitute a value any more since what we had to put up with was worse. My check in time was given as 3:00 we arrive a little after 5:00 and was told our room was not ready. We didn't get upset at this point and just waited as the maid finished cleaning it. I did get mad when I called before my 11:00 a.m. check out time and asked if we could have 30 min to an hour longer. They flat out said no. I've stayed at hotels that had my room ready on time and allowed us to stay up to an hour no questions asked. The walls are so paper thin you can here the conversations in the other room, a baby cried so long in the room next to ours I began wondering if the parents had left it alone. Nightmare with all the noise you hear. Dirty, very dirty. Yes the tops of stuff looked clean but don't look under the bed or behind the nightstand. The kitchen was useless. A pot was provided but no cooking utensils. Only one of the two burners worked. All I can say is thank goodness our trip was planned to spend our time outside the hotel room. We only had to sleep there.

Good for the price. Staff was friendly. Ocean is not too far at all.Plenty of stores nearby for getting the neccessities and close to several good reatataunts.

PROS: Affordable, kitchenette, free wireless internet, friendly staff, powerful A/C, good location close to shopping and easy drive down highway to beach or downtown CONS: bathroom wall needed cleaning or repainting, no daily maid service, no pool, no pets allowed Just got back from a two day weekend in Corpus visiting with family. We needed a place for 4 people that had a kitchen, in case we wanted to cook seafood. As a result, requiring a kitchen severely limited our choices to only a few places such as condos or suites with kitchenettes. We chose Sun Suites because it was one of the only places in town that could give us a kitchenette for less than $150 a night (we ended up paying only $79 I believe). We were apprehensive about coming here based on earlier reviews, but we were satisfied with our stay. Keep in mind that they are an extended stay suite, so don't expect daily maid or room service. If we needed anything, the office was more than happy to assist us (change of room due to cigarette odor, more toilet paper or more towels free of charge, replacement of remote battery). Keep in mind that the office operated from about 9AM to 9PM and there was after hours office available until about 5AM... Although it was clean, and the office claimed it was recently renovated, the bathroom walls/door were still dirty and needed cleaning. There were no other problems really, and we enjoyed the use of free wireless internet on our laptop. However, for the most part we enjoyed our stay. If money is no object, then I recommend staying elsewhere, at Residence Inn or a condo which we also looked at and had a lot more amenities, but was at least $100 more per night. If you don't need a kitchenette, then you can easily go elsewhere in town for better accomodations at the same price. If you need a kitchenette, you don't need a pool, you don't need daily maid service, you want something decent in terms of cleanliness and odor, you want something in a decent part of town (it was behind the Cracker Barrel and Outback Restaurant right off of South Padre Island Drive and within driving distance of Padre Staples Mall, 2 Walmarts, a Target, a Best Buy, HEB, etc etc) and you want to spend less than $100, this is pretty much what we found as our only option, what we expected, and what we were satisfied with.
