club too loud, heard on 27th floor/shirt stolen
By ,
the entrance is beautiful but wynn is little removed from the action and you need a bus to go back and forth - not fun. also i accidentally left my shirt behind - i was so sure that given wynn reputation i will get it back... i called as soon as i got home- it had vanished without a trace and wynn took no responsibility for it... never going back!

Bed bugs. Filthy. Very family unfriendly.
By ,
My husband and I went to Las Vegas this week for a medical conference. Our twin 16-month-old boys, my mother and sister accompanied us. We booked two adjoining panoramic king suites and requested two cribs and two high chairs. They were not ready for us when we went up to the room, and the lady from housekeeping was nasty and said it was our fault that we didn't make sure the room had those before we came up. When the cribs and high chairs came, they were filthy. We needed a place to let our boys sleep and had to scrub the cribs clean with baby wipes as best we could. We sent the high chairs back and asked for a clean pair. The high chairs that came were filthy as well. They also told us that my diabetic mother would have to pay $25 a day for a fridge for her insulin. We spoke to the housekeeping manager and hoped that would be the end of it. For our ordeal, the hotel manager told us he had comped four buffets to our reservation. More on that later. It was after our second night there that we discovered that my mother and sister's room had bed bugs. The hotel manager Anders Tystad initially denied it and then brought up a bed bug sniffing dog that resides at Wynn/ Encore full time. They would not let us stay in our rooms while the dog did the sniffing. We were then told that my mother's suitcase in her room was specifically targeted by the dog. Interestingly, the dog's caretaker, person who directly witnessed the whole bed bug sniffing process in our rooms said that the dog identified the entire closet area as a hot spot, not my mother's suitcase. But of course, the manager Mr. Tystad chose to blame us directly. They were very accusatory and told us that we had brought the bed bugs in and that the fact that we were from Cleveland made it even more likely. Everything in our room was cleared completely. Considering that our bags came from the same house, our clothes were stored and packed together and we travelled together, that was a little hard to swallow. They moved us to different rooms and would not let us have access to any of our luggage or personal items. It took us hours to get our luggage sent up even though we had babies who needed their basic items. They would not transport my mother's insulin up and kept passing the blame as to who was supposed to bring it up. While they blamed each other, my diabetic mother spent hours without her insulin. Some of our luggage was lost and took a while to track down. If that wasn't enough, Wynn and Encore are extrememly family unfriendly hotels. Children under the age of five are only allowed into a handful of restaurants. We have travelled extensively with our boys and have never felt so restricted and ostracized by a hotel. As for the free buffet, it was awful. This was a very lack lustre and disappointing excuse of a buffet with lukewarm and cold, tasteless food without the selection we are used to having at other Vegas hotels. Furthermore, this is Vegas and you expect smoking but this is a very poorly ventilated set of properties. We stay at MGM properties (mainly The Hotel and Mandalay Bay) and have never had that problem. We will never go back to Encore or Wynn given the bed bugs, lack of cleanliness, family unfriendly policies, lousy food and last but not least, the manager Anders Tystad.

beautiful Hotel with obscene pricing.
If you have won the lottery and have cash to burn, this place is for you. Beautiful, opulent, extravagent and luxurious. Asthetics aside, however, this place is in business not only to have you pay a premium for everything offered but also to manipulate, strong-arm and deceive their guests. Examples; Open Piano bar in casino area. We were told that their was a two drink minimum. No problem (despite charge of $19. per drink). Told waitress to send bill to my room. At checkout the bill reflects the price of the drinks, a self added tip and a "entertainment fee" of $15.00 (on top of the ridiculous and outlandish price for the drinks). Needless to say, we were never told this fee would be added. Complaint No. two; A mandatory fee of $20.00 per night classified as a "Resort fee" , a fee for use of the Wifi internet and other unexplained access to other amenities. To add insult to injury, The Encore then adds another $2.50 Tax on top of the resort fee!!! Complaint No. Three; No complimentary water/coffee. We Needed to go to the Walgreens down street (4 blocks) for 6 large bottles of water in 108 degree heat. Prices for water at the Encore/Wynn are criminal! Complaint no. four; Buffet prices are outlandish ($19. for breakfast, $25.-$27. for lunch and $40.00 for dinner! Yikes. No escaping to a less expensive coffee shop here. If you find one, sandwiches run $12.00-$15.00 Dollars. Eat across thestreet at Fashion Place Mall Food Court. Compalint no. Five; Slots never pay out. Go elsewhere like New York, Mandalay Bay, or Excalibur. Steve Wynn's hotel TVs run a Steve Wynn narrated promo/tour/ad where he talks about taking great pride in the fact that his places are for a select crowd, whether it be at his nightclubs, golf courses or The Encore/Wynn. Translation; give me your money if you have millions and dont have to keep count. Steve Wynn even runs promos on the hotel TVs for the sale jets! How obscene! No return visit for Me-ever!!!

Fabulous!
By ,
This place was very beautiful, the service was great, but this is not the place to go to on a budget. You have to pay for everything and everything is expensive. $5 dollars for a soda, $9 for a breakfast sandwich. There is a Walgreens down the strip stock up on snacks. Also they ask for you to have a credit card so they can hold 450 dollars on it, some may call this a deposit but idk. But it has everything you need in it nightclubs, bars, spa, pools, casinos, shopping-- all in the hotel. Bell service and baggage check for late departure were excellent. One of the best bell staffs I have experienced. Beutiful decor and ambiance. Staff at restaurants and bars were super helpful and friendly. Called you by name etc. Room was very nice, bed and bathroom were the best features. In room fridge only for their overpriced snacks and drinks. No room for your own stuff. Will go back for sure, but hope they're better trained up front...

Very elegant
By ,
We just got back from a seminar that was held at the Encore. We paid convention rates for a lovely suite so it did not "break the bank". The car valets were surly so we chose self park (a nice covered facility). The piped-in music was pleasant and the check-in went smoothly. We had a lovely buffet dinner in conjunction with the seminar every night and the food was delicious. We also had other meals in the hotel that were equally good. Beware, however, if you go to a liquor store or a grocery store for your waters, wine, and snacks---they have a sign (backed up with a security guard) prohibiting outside food and drink; in other words, they want you to pay their inflated prices. Take some opaque shopping bags as we did. The few down-sides of this hotel are that there are NO coffee-makers in the suite (For God's sake, even the Four Seasons and the Fairmont have coffee-makers!) and a small cup of plain coffee will set you back $4.75, the bathroom lighting is very poor for putting on make-up, the toliet is turbo-charged (don't flush while sitting on it as you will be taking another shower to clean up what fountained all over you), and you must pay extra for a refrigerator that isn't full of their items. If you move any of their items, either in the refrigerator or on the counter, you will be charged even if you do not use it as it is electronically monitored.

Amazing Casino
By ,
Just got back from Vegas this week, and I am thoroughly impressed with the Encore and the Wynn. My room in the Encore was amazingly decorated, and the beds were great (thought about buying one while I was over there). Separate shower and soaking tubs are a nice touch, and the automated room controls were also cool. Nice selection of food as well from cafes to buffets to five star restaurants. Food was a little expensive, but the quality was definitely a good value (particularly the buffet). The casino staff are also quite friendly and helpful if you're still relatively new to a game. Overall the Encore was definitely a great place to stay at for my first trip in Vegas.

Overall Loved It

Check in was a disaster; took more than 35 minutes. Two women who were supposed to organize things stood around smiling..people cutting lines. Bell service and baggage check for late departure were excellent. One of the best bell staffs I have experienced. Beutiful decor and ambiance. In room fridge only for their overpriced snacks and drinks. No room for your own stuff. Will go back for sure, but hope they're better trained up front...

Don't go if you like a cool room...
By ,
Pros: The hotel itself is not bad at all. It's understated, and not crowded, probably due to the pricing, but that's really what you're looking for at Encore. if you wanted a million screaming kids, you'd be at TI or MGM. The casino is nicely desgined, classy, and the pool is great. Almost empty when we were there, but again, that's what we were looking for. As far as restaurants, the only place we tried was SW at Wynn - it was very, very, good. Wait for a table outside if you have to, it's worth it. That was the only place we ate because of the below. CONS: Apparently, this hotel does not believe in air conditioning. The AC unit is over by the window, and so it blows into the living area. So that area is ok as far as temperature (if you keep the thermostat at 60 that area is maybe 75). However, both my wife and I woke up at 2 am sweating. The other part of the room where the bed is must have been 80-85 degrees. (And I had a friend of mine who likes it warm in his house (78) stay there, and even he told me he was a "bit warm" in the room.) We moved rooms at 4 am. No change. Looked at a third room - same thing. So now we've been in Vegas for 20 hours. It's 6 a.m., and we've had about an hour's sleep. Needless to say, the next day was shot. After checking out room #3, finally the front desk admits "Yes, we have 'high efficiency air conditioners in the rooms and they really don't blow as cold as normal ACs." We'll that's great, thanks for the info. Keep my $300. We left and went to Palazzo. The room was not as nice, but it was twice the size and comfortable. I was very disappointed. I will go to a hotel just because Steve Wynn built it - I just like his style. But he spent a couple of billion dollars on the place and the tried to save a few bucks a day in operating costs by getting cheap ACs. In a place where it gets to be 120 degrees in the day. Perhaps not the best idea. (And I'm not trying to harp on one thing - but when you're laying in bed at 2 am sweating, not much else matters.)
